Hennes Conscious Collection-Ethical Plus Size Fashion

Finding ethically produced fashion in my size is always exciting. I stumbled on the Hennes Conscious Collection via a recommendation from an eco fashion directory and ordered a few items.  Its not a massive range but if you are after some cute clothes, created in a way which has less of a negative impact on the planet (and the workers making them) its definitely worth a look

Cute and ethically conscious-nicely played H and M

Hennes state that the clothes from this collection are produced in factories which pay at least minimum wage and are created from organic cotton. The price point is not much more than anywhere else, in fact this dress is a very affordable £12.99.

Brit Pop Babe

This Pique dress is playing to all my Brit pop sensibilities. I feel like I should be in a Pulp video and that is rather excellent indeed. With its neat little collar it has a slightly Fred Perry air about it which is perfect for summer.
Lengthwise its plenty long enough and is nicely shaped, so is baggy without feeling tent like.

I want to live with Common people

The Conscious collection only goes up to a size 20 which is a real shame and frustratingly a lot of it ends at a size 16 (including a beautiful denim play-suit which I would have adored) I would love to see them extend this range. Here is hoping if more people buy the bigger sizes of these kind of collections they will get the hint.
This dress is true to size and is actually quite generous, so if you are between a 20/22 could also work.  Be warned I ordered some trousers from the same collection and they were so undersized I couldn't get them up my legs, but the dresses and tops seem grand.

Cool Fat fashion With A Low Climate Impact-Treading Gently On The planet with My Chubby Little Feet

Keeping with the Brit pop theme I've worn my Adidas originals  and my fave cross body bag
Inspired by the Wear it thirty times project I have already worn this out a lot and its washing and wearing very well.I have a few other pieces from this range which I will be sure to bring to you soon.

Blue-songs are like tattoos

Today I'm bringing you another outfit which was sourced at my local charity shop. Yet again the Cancer Research chazza has done me proud. Since turning to the pink side I've been looking for clothes which clash in the best possible way with my hair and this tunic dress is perfect.

Its a last season Florence and Fred number but Simply be do a similar one here I love how the bold geometric print of this dress does all the talking. The shape and design are really simple and it needs no accessories. The colours are enough.

My bag is by Asos last year and is showing as out of stock but this is fairly similar over at Banned. I'm really loving across the body bags this spring. The quirkier the better. Bags are actually surprisingly plentiful in second hand shops and if you struggle to find clothes in your size (I realise some of them still dont stock loads over a size 22) then its a great way to enjoy "new to you" fashion.

I'm still really enjoying mixing thrifted finds with new items and its definitely changed the way I put outfits together. Rather than simply rushing to buy the latest thing new I'm actually looking to see if I can buy something similar second hand. The results are really unique and exciting.

I was worried when I started this journey of conscious fashion that I would feel out of step, unable to enjoy trends or immerse myself in the thrill of the new outfit. Its actually the opposite and I'm loving clothes more than ever. I had grown quite jaded about certain elements of plus size fashion blogging and I definitely feel that I have turned a corner. I have realised that all fashion blogging is really about is sharing looks and inspiration. In its purest form its an exchange of ideas. Which is rather wonderful indeed.

Curvy Convention 2016

Every year there are  a few events in the Plus Size calender which I always really look forward to. Curvy Convention is one of them.

Nicky Rockets on the catwalk
It only began last year and I attended with Nicky and baba as we had a Nicky Rockets stand and arranged for our tees to be featured in the fashion show. We weren't sure what to expect but it was a lovely day.

Featuring a selection of indie and high street plus size brands it was wonderful to see so many plus size women getting together to check out the latest fashions, watch the catwalk and generally celebrate all things plus size.

Me and Baba at last years Curvy Convention

When we were asked if we would like to attend again we didn't hesitate. This year it takes place on Saturday the 28th May, 10.30-7pm at St John at Hackney, Lower Clapton Rd, London E5 0PD. Tickets  are are just £5. If you are looking for a great event full of positive plus size vibes then come along. I will be doing my very best glamorous shop-girl impression on the Nicky Rockets stand so come and say hello.

Ocean Mineral Facial Cleanser OZ Naturals

As a self confessed beauty product junkie I am always on the hunt for cruelty free skin care products which also deliver on performance and price. Today I have one that ticks all my beauty boxes and then some.

Now the weather has become a little warmer I've been finding that I need to take extra care when cleansing my face to remove all traces of make up as otherwise I get a few blocked pores.
I was sent this Ocean mineral cleanser to review last month and it was perfect timing.
Made by Oz Naturals this  product contains rosehip, Vitamin E and Borage oil all of which combined have left my skins feeling rather good indeed.
Not only that it also contains a concentrate of 92+ ocean minerals. These ocean minerals are said to help nourish and repair dry skin, blemishes, and rough, damaged skin while botanicals help to soothe and refresh. Importantly for me this is also  Cruelty Free. Vegan. Gluten Free and has no Alcohol, Parabens or Sulfates. Don't you love it when high performing products contain nothing but good stuff.
Oz Naturals-Cruelty Free skincare
The cleanser has a gel like consistency and you simply need to massage a pea size amount into your face with water. I found it removed all traces of make up and left my skin feeling very soft. What I particularly liked was that it wasn't greasy in the least so if you are someone who suffers from slightly greasy or spotty skin I could imagine this would work well. I have normal/combination skin and it was a good match.
Looks-wise as you can see the packaging feels very smart and looks rather swish on your bathroom shelf and you get a generous 118 ml (and a little goes a long way)

Good looking packaging for a very good product

My only disappointment is that it didn't smell of anything, I know, a silly thing to moan about when the product is so good but a hint of rosehip would have been nice.
Other than that this is a great everyday cleanser and at just over £16 is incredible value for what feels like a very luxurious product.

*I never lie to you dear readers-I was gifted this item for review but my opinions are my own.

Plus Size Thrifted Fashion

Its been absolutely glorious here in West Kirby which has given me a great opportunity to wear my latest plus size charity shop finds

I brought this black lace trimmed blouse from Cancer Research a few weeks ago. It was £3.50 and part of a buy one, get one free offer. I love the see through sleeves and lace detailing on the neckline.

I've been after a denim skirt for a while and picked this one up from ebay which if you struggle to find second hand clothes in your size in your local charity shops is an absolute godsend. I'm finding a mix of charity shops, ethical brands and ebay are really helping feed my love of new clothes without too many sleepiness nights about the ethics of it all-its a great feeling and so far the results have been great.

My pink skull bag was from the local hospice shop in West Kirby. I spied it in the window one night but it was shut-Nicky and Baba went and brought it for me the next day as I was unable to visit. So pleased with it-only a fiver and it matches my hair.

My leggings are new, I brought these from PeopleTree and they are actually their yoga leggings.

As much as I felt a bit stressed about how I could balance my desire to be more ethically conscious with my love of putting together new looks I feel now I am in the swing of it and I'm having so much fun. Of course being plus size there will always be times when I will need to buy new but so far its not been a problem. Also when your entire outfit costs less than a single item new you feel perfectly justified treating yourself to a big book splurge and lunch.
