The British Plus Size Awards 2015

Those of you who follow me on instagram or twitter will know that I spent Saturday night in the company of all the plus size babes at the British Plus size awards I love this event, it takes place every year and is always such a fantastic supportive atmosphere and of course is a brilliant excuse to dress up to the max.

With Nicky and baba on the red carpet
It was particularly exciting this year as Nicky Rockets was nominated for the best designer category and I was up for Best Blogger and Best fashion blogger although I didn't really fancy my chances and was just delighted to be going.
We had booked into a rather eccentric boutique hotel called the Pavilion on the recommendation of the twitter hive mind and it was absolutely brilliant. It is a kitsch themed bad taste palace stuffed full of standard lamps, leopard print chairs and peacock feathers-I loved it naturally.

Strike a pose

My outfit for the evening although originally planned as something else ended up being my beautiful Jameela Jamil leopard print maxi again with a sequin cape from the same range by my sponsors for the night Simply be
I feel absolutely amazing in this dress and having spent all week with a really nasty bout of conjunctivitis I felt kind of haggard and unglamourous so wanted to wear something I felt really good in.

Never knowingly under dressed-the brown eyed crew

Baba also wore the same cape under a cute little black swing dress and Nicky looked very dashing indeed in a paisley shirt blazer ,skinny fit jeans and  boots all by Jacamo who very kindly offered to dress him for the night.

How dapper does Nicky Rockets look.

The event was a living breathing testament to how fantastic plus size women look in evening wear. Here are a few of my favourite red carpet looks.

Sadly Nicky missed out on the best designer award but it went to the incredibly talented and lovely Anna Sholtz so we were able to feel we were pipped by a very worthy contender.
Nicky may not have won the best designer award but he definitely wins best husband awards-ahhh
The best blogger award went to the gorgeous Georgina Cox from Fuller Figure, Fuller bust, best new blog went to Hayley at Curves and Curls (who is officially adorable) and Best achievement went to Debz from wannabee Princess for the #wearethethey (and she really did get the biggest cheer, everyone was rooting for her)

Debz picking up her best achievement award
I was also so, so happy to see Slink pick up best magazine award. Rivkie from Slink works so hard and really deserves all the recognition in the world.

Team Slink-bravo
As I mentioned I really wasn't expecting to pick up any awards myself and as I was looking after the social media for the Curve fashion festival covering the event for them I was actually playing on my phone when they announced my name as winner of best fashion blog!
Stunned but happy

I was so gobsmacked and felt very, very grateful. I do feel I fly the flag for the fat, over forty brigade, so often ignored and almost invisible in most fashion campaigns so to win the fashion blog award was something very special indeed. Thank you so much to all of you who voted for me, I promise to keep on filling my little corner of cyberspace with great affordable fashion which doesn't bow down to anyone's expectation of what a certain size, shape or age should wear.
