Liverpool's Best Kept Secrets

Although originally from the Midlands, Liverpool is most definitely my spiritual home. I have now lived here as long as I did my birthplace and am very proud to be an honorary Merseysider.
Liverpool is such a gem of a city so when Travelodge asked me to share some of its best kept secrets my only  problem was deciding what not to include.
As its the festive period I thought i would share with you three of my favorite places to sip a mulled wine and catch up with friends.

The Kazimier 4-5 wolstenholme sq.Liverpool l1 4JJ

This is a bittersweet recommendation as the fantastic Kazimier is closing on New Years eve so if you are visiting Liverpool for some Christmas shopping or a short break before then I urge you to pop in. Its first and foremost a music venue but that doesn't really explain how utterly cool this place is.

Christmas drinks inside the restored train carraige at teh Kazimier

It also runs a bar open in the day which has a courtyard with a fire burning, an outdoor bar and a cosy railway carriage for you to sit it-its all quite bohemian and has the best atmosphere ever.

I always go here for my Christmas day out with my best friend Lilly and we will yet again be drinking Baileys around a fire-pit whilst enjoying the amazing atmosphere and music.

Berry and Rye berry Street Liverpool
This was Lilly's choice of venue on her last birthday and its quite magical. Hidden behind an unmarked door on Berry street its like a New Orleans speakeasy hidden behind a velvet curtain.
oh my
The cocktails on offer are out of this world and the dark decadence and the fact that as its so small it only admits a few drinkers at a time really give it a glamorous exclusive feeling you would never expect to find in the heart of the city centre.

Mowgli Street Food  Bold Street

This unique Indian restaurant opened its doors last year and is absolutely amazing. Run by former barrister and curry evangelist Nisha Katona (also a successful youtuber ans author of "Pimp my rice") it serves fresh, Indian foods free of artificial colouring's, gluten and all the other crazy ingredients you might expect to find in your average balti house. The vegetarian menu is simply amazing and the ambiance is just beautiful.

I visited here with my lovely friends Holly and Justine and we all loved it.
So there we have it, three little gems I would highly recommend if you fancy a trip to Liverpool.
And if you are looking for a great value hotel check out the Liverpool Travelodge

Hellbunny Yours Clothing Review

Hell Bunny have long been one of my favourite vintage inspired brands. They always seem to bring out the quirkiest designs and the cut of their dresses is always really great for plus size figures.
So hearing that Yours Clothing were collaborating with them was music to my ears and I was very lucky to be sent a few of the lovely dresses from the range to try out.

Black and red rose skull print dress £50 Buy here
Straight off the bat how fantastic does Felicity Heyward look in these pictures. I saw her in the flesh at the Curve fashion festival and she is just so beautiful. She also designed my bag of the year the Lady Luck heart clutch so is a total herobabe. Gushing aside what's the dress like?

The stunning Felicity Hayward

Well the short answer is its absolutely fantastic. The print is the classic rockabilly/Mexican inspired skull roses print and the shape of this is spot on.

And here is the same dress on a less Goddess like visage-still looks fab though doesn't it

First off it doesn't feature a halter neck, hallelujah. I cant be the only woman with large boobs who simply hates halter necks, they are so uncomfortable making the wide straps on this frock very welcome. Not only do they hide your bra straps but ensure the dress looks really nice without a cardigan or shrug.

Wide shoulder straps for the win

Now I should mention this doesn't feature the elasticated side panels that are such a lovely feature of Hellbunny designs but it is really true to size and quite roomy across the chest.

This is a great fit across the chest and back

The waist is gently nipped in and it has two layers of netting underneath which make the skirt stick out slightly. For £50 this is a really beautiful dress, it feels well made and as if its been designed with a fuller shape in mind-bravo!

The net underskirt makes the skirt stand out in such a lovely way

Black Jacquard Print Net layer dress £75 Buy here
Occasionally a dress comes into our lives and we all let out a little gasp because its just so darn perfect. When I first saw this frock of Gothic wonder I couldn't believe it was stocked up to a size 28 (its roomy too so lower end 30s should give it a go) Its just so ridiculously awesome.

This is like something out of Helena Bonham Carters closet. It features a flock pattern with skulls in top hats, a beautiful bodice style top, really delicate thin straps and of course the star of the show the net layers.

Fat Goth dress of dreams

Unlike the previous dress this does has elasticated sides making it very generous around the top and the whole dress features stretch so while it looks all neat and fitted its incredibly comfortable.

I feel like the bad fairy-which is obviously amazing

This is the perfect dress for anyone who hates the idea of the clichéd "Christmas party dress" its as black as night, a dress for bad fairy's and wicked stepmothers, it even features a structured bow on the back. Naturally I'm in love.

My shoes for both of these outfits are the twinkly widefit Minnie Mouse shoes also by yours which you can buy here
If you are looking for a Christmas outfit which you know you will love long after the wrapping paper has been recycled then this range is definitely worth a look.

Wide Wellies

The weather here in the UK has been absolutely dreadful over the last week, it just doesn't seem to have stopped raining. So it seemed like fate when the lovely guys at wide wellies got in touch to collaborate on a blog post and vlog about their fantastic range of wide fit wellies.
Wide Wellies

Like a lot of plus size women I have very big calves and really struggle to find plus size wellington boots that fit comfortably. I have tried a few makes but they were either a bit too tight making wearing jeans with them impossible or so wide they looked like strange rubber wading boots.
This is where Wide wellies are so cool. If you hop on over to their website they have a really handy size chart which in two simple steps helps you find the perfect plus size wellie for you. You simply measure the length of your foot, measure your calf circumference (at the widest part) and check your numbers against their handy chart.Wide fit wellies-its a miracle.

I chose the XL size and they fit beautifully. No struggles to get on and off, no silly baggy tops and the shape is great. What also really helps with the fit is the adjustable strap at the side. This allows you to tighten or loosen the fit depending on what you are wearing-perfect!

Love the adjustable strap
Now I'm not exactly a rural type of woman, I like to feel glam at all times and Wide Wellies really deliver in terms of design and colours.
They stock everything from florals to polka dots as well as some gorgeous glossy ox blood coloured boots which I nearly went for.
In the end of course I chose leopard print. Sure I may be wearing wellies but I still want to look chic and cool and in these I really do.

Yes I'm in wellies but i still want to look fierce
To compliment my leopard print wellies I'm wearing my faveourite new tutu skirt and my faux leather jacket who says walking in the woods can't be chic.

My inner child is very happy kicking up leaves

Now this wouldn't be a proper review if I didn't put the wellies to the test, so with that in mind I spent a very enjoyable hour kicking up leaves, splashing in muddy puddles and generally really putting these wide wellies through their paces. My verdict, they kept my feet toasty dry, they didn't chafe and are very comfortable.
Its looking like there may be more rain on the way so if you are looking for a pair of wide fit wellies I would definitely say check widewellies out.

The best black Friday bargains for plus size fashion this week

My inbox is heaving with companies telling me about their black Friday offers as well as some clever brands who are starting their discounting early. Ive gone through them and here is my quick fire list of what fatty fashion bargains you can grab today.

Evans
Im kicking off with Evans because they have a one day 50% sale on coats today that ends at midnight. This pink trench coat is down to £28

whilst this cute black paddington bear coat is £30

The rest of their sale is pretty good too though and I often buy items in the Evans sales which I have wanted for a while but couldn't quite justify at full price.
How lovely is this

This Vita Gotlieb dress for example is reduced from £80-£40. Not the bargain if the century but I know I will wear it again and again.

I'm also very tempted by this white design collective skirt which I fell in love with when it was shown on the catwalk at London fashion week last year. Its reduced to £20 and whilst it may feel unseasonal now think how lovely it will be for spring.

Yours Clothing
Yours are offering a massive 70% off this week on selected lines as well as having massive discounts on lots of current season stock. I always stock up on underwear when Yours do their big sales. These briefs for example are only £3.50

My favourites include this purple sequin dress-I own the pink version of this and it is hands down one of my favourite party frocks ever. Its reduced to £45 from £90 and is well worth the money.

I'm also loving these wide fit biker boots which are only £21 and will take you right through to spring.

They are also offering free delivery over £50 or if you do click and collect its free on any size order.

Simply Be
Simply Be are doing some great pre black Friday daily bargains. Today's picks for me include this Christmas hooded onesie which is only £16 and would be so cute to wear on Christmas eve
Too cute

These Chloe skinny jeans which are £15. These are such a great cut especially if you have a round tummy.
And this long line blazer which is reduced to £20. This kind of classic jacket will work so hard all year round and at that price works out at such great value.
So these are what are ringing my sale bell today. I will bring you more plus size fashion bargains as and when I find them throughout the week..
Nicky Rockets is offering free P and P on Friday too-so a great day to get those Curvy Christmas sweaters (last day to order too)
