Boohoo My Style Icon-Nancy from The Craft

I have spoken often about my style influences on this blog, Patti Smith, Debbie Harry, Siouxsie Sioux Gwen Steffani and of course Stevie Nicks. So when Boohoo asked me to collaborate on  an outfit based on a "style icon" I considered emulating one of these amazing women but eventually went for someone else completely.
My Style Icon-Nancy from the Craft
I have actually channelled those women a lot over the last few years and it being October decided to turn my attention to one of my favourite Halloween icons.

The character of Nancy in the 1996 film "the Craft" played by Fairuza Balk has long been a huge style crush of mine. Nancy was always the character I related to the most, strong, on the face of it a natural leader but always feeling like an outsider even with her own pack of misfits.

The Craft

The styling of the Craft is just to die for, one part Gothic schoolgirl to two parts high priestess and Nancy with her spiky bob, smudged eyeliner and dark lips looks as awesome today as she did the first time I watched it.

To create my Nancy look I chose the Michelle Raglan long sleeved top the Daisy high waisted mini skirt  and Khloe knee high socks all from the Boohoo Plus range  I layered on lots of long necklaces and of course a neck choker and my clumpy Deichman shoes

I drink of my sisters, and I take into myself... all the power of Manon.
As a plus size woman I love to recreate character from films and TV who may originally have been anything but fat. Being inspired and influenced by a certain look doesn't have to mean you are the double of that person, and if I only dressed up as fat characters in movies, music and comics I would have exhausted the choices quite quickly.

Have you ever heard of invoking the spirit?
Halloween costumes for plus size chicks don't have to be buxom cats or serving wenches (although they can look cool) channel whoever the hell you want and if that involves knee socks and a baseball top go for it. I did and now I can turn people into frogs and change the colour of my hair with the click of my fingers (I may have made the last bit up)
