I also love seeing what people wear on the red carpet. Award ceremonies are such an opportunity for designers to display their craft and often the clothes worn are just breathtaking.
Here are my favourites from this year and some fairly awesome dupes I have found in fatty size. Yes my fuller figured brethren, we shall all go to the ball and look absolutely banging as we do so:

People can be a bit snotty about stars "playing it safe" when they opt for an all black outfit but when the cut and draping is as flawless as this, they should just shut the hell up.Everything about this outfit from the simple accessories to the cooler than cool bobbed hair is perfection.

Rosamund Pike- Red Givenchy dress
I loved Gone Girl, I love Givenchy and this dress is just beautiful. Breaking all the so called modesty rules it flashes leg, shoulders and is the colour of a burlesque dancers garter. The end result, wow!

Faith Hill in J Mendel
There is something so beautiful and simple about a white floor length gown and I am digging the vaguely 1920s feel of Faith Hills outfit.The plunging neckline and string of pearls stops it being too demure. Sort of good girl gone bad. The best sort.

Patricia looks like a monochrome superhero in this dress. Loving the one shoulder cape action and the fact her hair is exactly the same style as I wear to keep it from getting wet in the bath.

I am so crazy for this dress. The embellishment, the writing, it really is like something out of a midsummers night dream. If this is what red carpet maternity wear looks like I think everyone should get up the duff immediately-including the men.

Rita Ora in Marchesca
The colour of this gown is just so good. Its perfect for the Oscars and is a real Hollywood royalty shade. Liz Taylor often wore it and if its good enough for Rita and Liz its good enough for us (I wore it at the Plus size awards-always ahead of the herd doncha know)

Gaga in Azzedine Alaïa
Structured, twinkly with red "hands that do dishes" gloves. I love this dress so much I want to take it on a mini break and woo it with boat rides and massages.
Scarlett Johansson in Atelier Verscae
The colour of sea foam, this is what Mermaids who trade in their tails for legs wear to the shops.Scarlett looks like she should be emerging from the waves, a hapless fisherman caught in her net (how we all want to die basically)
Kelly Osbourne in Rita Vinieris
Classic hollywood styling with a punk rock sensibility. I always heart what kelly wears and love that even when she is all red carpet ready she looks like she may have a pocket knife in her clutch. Bravo kells.
