One Jumper, Three Looks: Black knitted jumper with ruching detail from Yours Clothing

I love a blog challenge especially one that shows how you can get maximum wear out of the most simple items. So when Yours Clothing asked me if I fancied trying my hand at creating three looks from one plain jumper I was well up for it.

The jumper in question is the black knitted long sleeved jumper with ruching detail which is a rather thrifty £14
Whilst it would have been the easiest thing in the world to just chuck it on with three different pairs of leggings or jeans I wanted to see if something as casual as a jumper could also work as a more dressy outfit too.
Here are my three looks:

Cutesy Skater Girl
As this jumper is a fine knit it can actually be tucked in without making you look lumpy. I decided to work a monochrome palette with this checked skater skirt  £17 some black leggings and ballet pumps. My Kewpie Doll wolf necklace £15 was the perfect finishing touch.

A jumper yes, but surprisingly feminine

Jumpers are hardly synonymous with elegance but I thought i would put together a slightly more elegant look by changing the silhouette slightly. This black and white floral pencil skirt £19 works surprisingly well, especially when belted at the waist. Working on the premise to go big or go home I then added clipy clop shoes and my Birken bag. I was surprised how wearable this look was and could quite easily work as office wear.
A little vintage inspired styling

I actually felt slightly 1940's in this outfit so victory rolled my hair and added a jaunty little brooch which I picked up at a charity shop a while ago.

My final look was how I classically wear a jumper. I've put it with some shiny black leggings (these are from last season but see similar here) my hi tops and lots of dark eye make up. It's a sort of punk, goth hybrid. Very wearable, very practical but feels quite cool, not frumpy.
Simple but cool
A pair of glittery cat ears and my skull messenger bag add just a pinch of rock n roll styling to proceedings. Who knew a plain black jumper could look so cool?

So there you have it. One jumper, three looks. Will this make you revisit your wardrobe basics to see if you can put more than one type of outfit together?

  1. I love the skull bag in the third outfit, where did you get it?

  2. Where are the ballet pumps from? They look like they're quite wide and won't fall apart in 5 minutes! :)
