Mutiny For Her Bounty by Nicky Rockets

You gotta ask before you touch my booty

What  a hectic weekend its been. I have just returned from the plus size fashion event "Plus North" where we launched our brand new Curveralla Tee shirt design "Mutiny for her Bounty"

Its here-the brand new design!!
It seems Curveralla not content with sashaying around space or being the number one triple X  zombie killer is now taking on life as a plus size pirate.
The tag line is "You gotta ask before you touch my booty" which I think we can all agree are words to live by.
Too often people think Women with larger butts and boobs are quite happy to have then pinched and pawed at, as if our size makes us comfortable to be touched by strangers, maybe even grateful. Well back off. Curverella will take none of your handsy behavior.

The response to the Nicky Rockets brand at Plus North was just amazing. There is so much love and appreciation for our tee shirts, celebrating a plus size heroine as she goes through life's adventures. It means so much to me and Nicky. This brand comes from a place of such personal investment and for others to buy into it is just mind blowing and very very gratifying. It seems I'm not the only fat girl who wants to see depictions in comics and on tee shirts of sassy, sexy girls who look like me.

At the Nicky Rockets stand with Baba Bee

The new design was a big hit but we also received a lot of love for the other designs in the collection too especially our latest "Do you want curves with that" Here are just a few of the very cool chicks who were flying the Nicky Rockets flag.

The new design comes in sizes S-XXXL and is available in vests, round neck tees, slash neck tees and lady fits. There is basically a style to suit every curve.
Loving the lady fit

the classic Tee

If you would like to purchase the new design go to the Nicky Rockets shop  they are £15 and please send me any photos. Every time I see a picture of someone in a Curverella tee shirt I want to do an air punch (oh who am I kidding I do an actual air punch and sometimes a jig)

Something Wicked This Way Comes: Little Wickeds Emporium

Wicked

Occasionally an email hits my inbox (ooh matron) that makes me do a little dance. Like this.

One such message was when the lovely Mindi from online boutique Little Wickeds Emporium got in touch to tell me that she was launching a range of made to measure plus size separates in all manner of amazing fabrics and designs. She asked would I like to model for it (meaning I got every piece made to my measurements) Joy to the world!
If like me your body often struggles to fit into standard sizing (I am all over the shop, big boobs, tiny sloping shoulders, big tummy, slimmish legs) then made to measure is an absolute dream.
Plus size perfection-made to measure
I supplied Mindi with a ton of measurements, everything from waist to just past the knee so she got the skirt length right to chest, underbust, waist, arms, the works.I then picked some fabrics and colourways  from her wonderful selection and waited impatiently to see what the finished clothes would look like.
Little Wickeds Emporium make choosing your design so easy. You can pick from a variety of necklines and sleeve types in tops, and for skirts opt for a pencil or circle style.
Here are my favourite looks from the photo shoot.
The Pamela Peplum top in the mermaid fabric with matching Lana pencil skirt. How utterly lush is this fabric.

Come and crash against my big fat rocks

And here is the same look but with a gingham Lana skirt and purple Pamela top. This feels like something Joan would wear in Madmen-its just adorable.

Purple plussie

I also loved the Pamela top with elasticated peasant sleeves with a matching Lucille swing skirt in bright blue polka dot.

Its so wonderful to see made to measure plus size clothes  being offered in alternative fabrics and unusual colourways. The fact that you can order them online just like any other purchase is wonderful.
Swing (skirt)
The days of plus size ladies hiding in drab colours and plain fabrics is over. We want to strut like fuller figured peacocks and Little Wickeds Emporium is helping make this happen. They are also a one woman UK based enterprise made by hand with love and that's got to be worth celebrating too.
Hand made in blighty

I'm a bad bitch, no muzzle: Floral Wrapover Dress by Pinkclove Review

I'm  a bad bitch no muzzle

Growing up I absolutely loved Joan Collins as Alexis Carrington in Dynasty. She just had that old Hollywood glamour that I'm a total sucker for.Shades of Mildred Pierce and Bette Davies with just a hint of faded pageant queen.
Never a hair out of place, enough lip gloss to drown in and shoulder pads which could double as offensive weapons. Its a style template I've been attracted to all my life-glamour at number eleven.

Glamour at number eleven

So this being the case any dress that makes me feel like a power bitch makes my heart sing and this floral wrapover dress  £26 by Pinkclove does just that.
The product shot on the website I don't think does it justice. It looks quite safe and dare I say it a bit frumpy-needless to say there is nothing ordinary about this frock-its an absolute cracker.
The dress on the pinkclove website
The splashy print is like a floral slap in the face (with a carnation coloured suede glove naturally) and the deep V of the neckline offers a hint of cleave without being too revealing-its vamp not tramp darlink.

Va va voom baby

The waist is nipped in and slightly elasticated which makes for a great silhouette and the slit at the front of the skirt shows a tantalizing glimpse of leg-Liz Hurley eat your heart out.

The sizing on this rather magnificent number is as generous as a Texan oil billionaire so I would size down especially if like me you are slightly between sizes.

resting bitch face-standard

I've kept my accessories simple, letting the frock do all the talking. Cream coloured wedges and a handbag big enough to hide a bottle of gin. Its all I need.
I'm ready to wrestle a love rival and tell board members to go to hell.

Dropping A Love Bomb On Da House

Dropping Da Love Bomb
Last week I sent an e-mail to another blogger just to tell them how inspiring I found their work. I don't know them, don't want to be their friend or be on their blog I simply wanted to let them know that what they do inspires me and makes me happy.
Dropping a love bom in pug form-woof

I call this "dropping da love bomb" Its a really good habit to get into.
If someone does something that you like, tell them. If a shop gives good service, a meal at a restaurant is particularly delicious or somebody performs a random act of kindness which impresses you then drop "Da love bomb" on their house.

As I came up with the concept of "da love bomb" there are few rules namely:
  • Don't drop a love bomb in the hope of gaining something. That's being a creepy bum lick and is something entirely different.
  • Don't drop a love bomb and expect the person to respond, That's not the point of a love bomb. You send your love off into the sky like a heart shaped balloon. Its not coming back. Bombs travel forward-they don't return.
  • Don't be surprised if your love bomb is greeted with suspicion. Few people do anything nowadays without an agenda. Its why award ceremonies like the Pride of Britain are so popular. Being selfless or acknowledging others is sadly not the norm.
Sending a Love Bomb into the air-Image by Bansky

So if you are unlikely to receive thanks, cant expect to even get an acknowledgement and certainly cant drop a love bomb in the hope of getting something back why do it?
Why? because you do get something back. It feels ace to tell a fab photographer you saw their recent exhibition and it rocked, or the local green grocer that their carrots made your dinner amazing, or  a girl in the supermarket that her dress is lovely. It spreads a tiny amount of happiness onto the toast of life.
Sending love bombs doesn't replace having a healthy cynicism, a black sense of humour or enjoying a good bitch, no no no.You may only press the button on your Love Bombs once in a blue moon, you have to be in a very particular frame of mind to do it.
Press the button. Image by Banksy
The idea is give praise where praise is due and if you are very lucky someone occasionally may send one your way. Perhaps when you are having the day from hell. You have laddered your tights, gone overdrawn, dented your car, its all gone to rat shit and you get a little facebook message, text or a card and suddenly every things groovy.
So lets all drop a love bomb this week. Did I mention your hair is looking great?

Giving It The (Lady) V's: 50's Hepburn pale pink floral tea dress

This frocks all about the pretty

Some frocks are all about the pretty. The moment you slip them on you feel adorable, they are imbued with an almost alchemy that transforms you. You stand taller, you walk with a hip sashay that would make Rupaul proud, your eyelashes seem to grow to twice the length and you flutter them like the caramel bunny.
This is one of those dresses.

Sashay shantay
I'm already a big fan of the Tiger Milly website and when I saw they were stocking the Lady Vintage collection of frocks I was very happy indeed. Lady V of London has been quietly invading my facebook feed with numerous pictures of curvy babes in splendid frocks, they even have a selection designed by queen curvy Georgina Horne herself-its all good baby.

Clever as well as adorable
This 50's Hepburn pale pink floral tea dress £53.95 is one of the nicest dresses I have worn in quite some time.
The cut is clever. Despite being a scoop neck it isn't squashing my boobs (so often this style of dress makes me feel like Barbra Streisand in Yentl strapping her boobs down) The bodice detail is a gift if you are large in the chest department but fancy a holiday from having to place your boob shelf on the table before you start eating.
papa can you hear me?

The fitted belt which is sewn in and ties at the back gives you the classic 1950's nipped in waist which as you know I love and the skirt gently billows out like a floral decorated bell, Ding dong-plus size hottie calling.
This shade of pink is just divine. Its like the petal of a chrysanthemum, soft and dewy and the floral design is in a light grey. Its pink yes but its understated. Like a whisper in your ear rather than a punch in the face (although as you well know when it comes to pink I like it every which way)
A dress this retro gorgeous deserves big hair and a lorra lorra make up and really who am I to deny it. It had me at hello.
To this end I have teased my hair into a beehive that Amy (RIP) would have been proud of and on my lips I'm wearing the rather pale and sixties inspired velvet lip lacquer by MUA in shade funk (she got the funk)

Beehive babe
I always feel wonderful in pink so this dress is  a perfect storm of colour, fit and print.Well played TigerMilly well played indeed.

Do You Want Curves With That?

Do you want curves with that?

You know how it is, you wake up in the morning, can't find a thing to wear and then your nearest and dearest produces a new tee shirt from his brand and all is right with the world.
I heart Nicky Rockets

Yes they have arrived the "Do you want curves with that" tees have landed at www.nickyrockets.com and I for one am loving mine.

I realised that we hadn't actually featured a blonde plus size hottie on our tees before, how remiss of us.Now  she is here I am very glad to have such a bombshell bursting out of my chest. In this instance blondes certainly do seem to be having more fun and fuller cup sizes!
My cup runneth over

Ringing the changes I have chosen a lady fit tee over my normal slash neck version and it just works perfectly with this design.
.

I'm wearing a size XL and these beauties come in sizes medium -XXL in the lady fit and vests and small to XXXL in the slashed and round neck tees.
Staying true to the curvy pin up look of the design I've worn a black stretchy skirt from Pinkclove and tied  a rockabilly inspired scarf around my head

A teeshirt that's a gift
Nicky Rockets is offering a sticker pack on every order placed today (which is in addition to his usual surprise gift) so if these tickle your curves its a great time to order.Teeshirts are £15 and can be purchased here
