Fade To Grey: Visage and punk inspired outfit

Fade to grey
When I was a little girl my mum and dad were punks. This was a rather radical fashion statement in the mid 70's and my mum (who was a fashion designer) would not only make herself amazing clothes but we would also regularly go to London to visit the few shops which catered for this style.

There was Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren's Seditionaries which had a pre dandy highwaymen Adam Ant as a shop assistant and another shop which I think was called Boy but I may be wrong where Steve Strange worked.
This was before Visage and later when I fell in love with all things new romantic I would remember him and the beautiful oriental girl in the shop who had been so kind to me and my little brother as we played with toys on the shop floor.
Fade to grey is such a great song and could be the theme tune to my outfit today.

Soft muted grey works against the summer storm clouds

The sun is shining but its also humid and head achy and rather than throw on my usual bright's I have instead worn this grey dress by Pink clove which I'm loving at the moment with its black graffiti print. Its last season I'm afraid but they do a similar dress

I've worn it with a great shawl by Yours clothing which is so soft and perfect for shepherding me through the rather uncertain weather we are having (one minuite cracking the flags, the next cold and wet) yet again this is last season but they do have something similar
In the past I would avoid shawls as I felt they made me look too bulky but to paraphrase Rhett Butler I don't give  a damn.

My necklace is by Bete Noir its a Kewpie doll with a wolf head and today it makes me think of the "Bad wolf" motif in doctor who and the direwolves in games of thrones. Everything I wear has meaning even when it looks thrown together.

Grey isn't a colour I often wear but this shade  is muted and moody and somehow works for this strange insolent almost tropical weather we are having, thunderstorms and blasts of sun then rain. Its also a strange time as Mercury is in retrograde again which always makes me feel a bit unsettled.

An outfit which reflects my feelings of oddness

Sometimes your clothes don't need to shout to be heard.
