How To Add Make Up Radiance (or not look so tired)

Recently I was doing make up on a lady at a pamper day and she mentioned that since turning thirty she had felt her skin had lost some of its "radiance” she didn't feel her skin glowed like it used to but her attempts to use make up or BB creams had just resulted in her looking “glittery”
Creating healthy looking skin when your complexion is as grey as an old sock does take some practice. Too much blusher and highlighter and you can look like a china doll but using your normal matte foundations and powders will only make dull skin look even worse. So here is a little tutorial showing you how I pep my complexion up when I’m looking particularly knackered. I’ve done a step by step video and for those of you who can't view clips here are some photos too (excuse the photo quality I had to take them myself as Nicky Rockets was out)

Step One

Work Simples Illuminating Radiance cream into your entire face.

Step Two

Pat on some Benefit Boi-ing concealer under your eyes to disguise the worse of your eyebags/circles

Step Three

Use No 7’s Lift and Luminate foundation to even out your complexion further. I work this in with my Real Techniques foundation brush .

Step Four

If you can still see your under eye circles add some Avon Anew concealer just around the hollows.

Step Five

Dab Benefits high beam along your cheekbones, your brow bones, your nose and in the corners of your eyes, blend well.

Step Seven

Dab some Nars blush in shade Orgasm on the apple of your cheeks

Step Eight

Sweep the Bodyshops Brush on radiance on your temples and cheekbones

Ta-Dah-from walking dead to fresh as a daisy!

Bright Goes The Fatty: Carboot Bargains

Car Boot babe

Today has been absolutely glorious. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and I am feeling amazing as I soak up the rays and get some well needed vitamin D into my system.
Through the trees

I brought this dress from a local car boot a few weeks ago for a fiver. It has no label so it is brand unknown but I just love the splashy bright colour and the lace band near the bottom.
No known brand today just thrifty chic at its best

It may have been intended as a tunic top but as I'm so short its become a dress. Ive added a belt as without it I did look slightly maternity wear chic and that dear readers will never do. I want to look hot and fat not preggers!

Flower Power
This outfit may require sunglasses
I've teamed it with this rather blingtastic Parakeet necklace £15 which I brought from taking Shape a few weeks ago when I modelled at their store event in Liverpool. It is so bad taste that it may almost be good taste-its like jewellery to wear on a cruiseship-amazing.
Gorgeously Vulgar

In my hair is a floral headband which I brought from a shop called Boutique in the Pyramids in Birkenhead (just keeping it real for you) and on my trotters are some wide fit ballet flats from primark. I'm not loving this wide fit business, its a nice idea but they are like boats on me and believe you me I have got some seriously chubby feet.
Wide fit pumps by Primark-which are  a bit like boats

My bag is from when I went to Center Parcs so yet again is brand unknown. I like the candy stripes and the vaguely retro feel.
Groovy baby
I'm feeling rather lovely in this get up. Its not breaking any fashion barriers but sometimes just feeling groovy  is enough and yes I just used the word groovy with no irony. the sun must really have gone to my head.

Rub Me Up The Right Way: All woman anti-chafe shorts

I may not be a lady...

A lot of plus size hotties will find that as the weather gets warmer and they discard their leggings or tights that they start to suffer from the dreaded chub rub.
For some this is just a slight discomfort as the top of their legs rub together for others it can lead to blisters and real pain so its no joke and also nothing to be embarrassed about. There are a few products on the market to help with it including creams but for me wearing little shorts has always been the best approach.
All Woman Anti chafe knickers

Which is why I was really pleased when the big tights company approached me to tell me about their All Woman anti chafe shorts which had been designed to pop on under your clothes and ensure you never get friction burn again.

You don't have to jump in the air but if you do you wont get friction burn

They come in two lengths, short and long and are available in white, black and neutral colours.
I was sent the black short leg version and they are fab. they are very soft and comfortable in a ribbed cotton and also very thin so wont show under your clothes regardless of how tight your frock is.

Its worth noting that these are not control knickers so wont flatten your tummy or hips but they are so thin you can easily pop some control underwear over them if you are a spanx junkie like me.
Here I am flashing my All Woman Anti Chafe shorts

At £15.99 these are a great investment for summer especially if you plan to do lots of long walks or dashing around.

My thighs thank you

Im already a huge fan of the big tights company (I reviewed the fab pink tights from them a while ago) and yet again this is such a superior product to other similar shorts I have brought from plus size retailers.
So don't let chub rub spoil your summer-just chuck on  a pair of these and shake what your mama gave you!
*I was gifted these however my opinion is my own and this is not a sponsored post

Back On The Chain Gang: Mono skater dress by Pink Clove

Humbug Honey

I've had my eye on a black and white striped dress for a while. They have a slight look of the circus about them and also of prison uniform chic so when I saw this striped mono skater dress by Pink Clove at £24 I decided it was time for me to embrace monochrome.
How the dress looks on the website

When the dress first arrived I envisaged making it have a slightly punky edge but once it was on I felt like a 1960's Italian starlet so channeled Sophia Loren instead. Big hair, lashings of black eyeliner and very pale lipstick.
Sophia Loren Chic

The dress is quite low cut as you can see from this picture which my husband took before I added a vest. Its rather "Hello Boys" which I'm sometimes in the mood for but when I wore it out I did put something underneath (I was scared of taking some poor fellas eye out)
Its all about the boobs

The dress is a classic skater dress but is in a lovely thick waffle style fabric so feels very structured.
I love the shape of this dress

I really liked the black patent belt that came with it as well. The quality of the dress is so much better than the price tag suggests-something I find with a lot of Pink Clove stuff.

Classic Skater dress
Cute little patent belt

Keeping my accessories simple I'm wearing my Fatshion necklace which was from Scarlet and Jo, my black jelly shoes with the red Minnie mouse bow and one of my faveourite handbags which is my Motorcycle bag by Balanciaga which I have had for a million years and just gets softer and better with age.

This dress feels like a massive fuck you to the hundreds of guides I've read over the years telling me to avoid stripes. I'm a sexy zebra and loving every minute of it.
Full of stripy goodness

Everybody Yurts: Strawberry Skies, Llanfair Caereinion

Yurt Love
So last week it was the Easter holidays  and we decided to take a weekend break staying in a Yurt at a beautiful place called Strawberry Skies which is in Llanfair Caereinion, Powys in North wales.
For the uninitiated Yurts are Mongolian canvas structures, sort of a hybrid between a tepee and a tent. They are fairly sturdy, are off the ground and have wood burning stoves, rugs on the floors and proper beds.It is still essentially sleeping under canvas but with a little more luxury.
You get all the advantages of being out in the great outdoors whilst not waking up with a slug making love to your forehead or ice on the walls of your tent.
We are here!

Strawberry Skies is very special, its a 10-acre smallholding, which is home to sheep, chickens and pigs and is surrounded by just the most beautiful countryside. Whilst we were there newborn lambs could be seen in the fields, playing in the sun it was perfect.
Eric and Anya who run Strawberry Skies couldn't be more welcoming and we felt instantly welcome and at home as soon as we arrived. They also own the most gorgeous dogs Milla and Buffy who often came over to say hello as we heated up our beans in a billycan over the fire.

The perfect escape

As a family we do love to escape to North wales as often as we can. The countryside is a great antidote to the day to day stresses of modern life and doing things like chopping firewood, lighting the barbecue to make your dinner or throwing logs on the fire pit force you into a state of presentism which I sometimes struggle with at home.
Glamping

The yurt itself was truly magical. As I lay in bed I could see the moon from the top of the canvas and the only sound was of the sheep all having a good old natter in the nearby field.

Under the moon

Campfire magic

As well as relaxing by the campfire, playing ton's of card games and reading lots of books we also took a long leisurely walk to the nearby village and had a fab lunch at a pub called the Red lion. Nothing fancy just cheese and onion toasties and apple pie for pudding but after a good hours walk it felt well deserved.

having a rest at the half way point of our very long walk

Now this being a fashion blog I couldn't tell you about my adventure without discussing what I wore.

Voguing. Much to the amusement of the sheep

Whilst I do like to be quite relaxed when we go camping or caravaning I am not someone who can totally forgo all the trappings so I always plan my outfits carefully.
For this trip I mainly lived in my fave Pinkclove floral spot skater dress with my bunny jumper from Yours clothing thrown over the top.I was comfortable but also felt colourful and not too scruffy.

Red faced but laughing after a long hot walk

I had planned to order some wellingtons but ran out of time so dashed into primark and found a really cute little pair which amazingly fitted really well.
I kept my hair in bunches (I actually think any woman wearing bunches over the age of 20 should be shot except when camping-this is a very important amendment to my rule) and whilst I left the false lashes at home I did still wear light make up as I didn't want to frighten the poor new born lambs with my craggy old face.

Waterfall wonder
My family

On the Sunday we visited the Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfall, wow that is just such a magical spot. Its like something from the Hobbit. Its up the steepest windiest country roads (we felt like billygoats) but so worth the journey.
It was a beautiful weekend in a very special place and we were all very sad to come home and will definitely be going back to Strawberry Skies again.
