The brands MD Alla Buinowicz was in town from Australia and we had a fab breakfast meeting. Alla is really keen to ensure she is meeting the needs of the stylish British plussie and that the Taking Shape brand evolves and grows until its a perfect fit for our beautiful UK bodies.I have to say Alla is an absolute riot. Loud, bolshy and so smart. I can see how she has managed to make Taking Shape such a success in Australia and I have no doubt she will do the same here.
I love it when brands interact with plus size fashion bloggers. Afterall we spend all our lives obsessing about clothes, sharing our top finds, tweeting pictures of drool worthy items. Its like a sprawling network of fat fashionistas and its great to meet someone like Alla who gets that and wants to listen to what we want, need and lust after.
Hanging with the taking Shape Team-Alla is to my right |
While I was at the store I took a sneaky little look at their new arrivals. Its Ladies day at Aintree at the beginning of April and Ive already had a few emails from chicks asking me where I can recommend for something with vava voom.
With this in mind Ive tried on a few outfits I think would look rather beautiful accompanied by a glass of champagne, a hair fasinator and heels sinking into mud.As always I include the product photo from the brands website so you can see how it looks on me in comparison.
Peonie Princess Dress £75
I pounced on this as soon as I saw it. Its without doubt a total showstopper. The beaded neckline in addition to the floral print might be slightly too much for some peoples taste but for an event like ladies day its perfect. The capped sleeves and A-line shape is a recurring theme at Taking Shape and I absolutely love it. This dress also has some stretch in it as well which means it wont be pinching you around the arms or waist but still looks quite fitted.
I'm a peonie princess |
The Peonie Princess dress also has a matching jacket. Together I thought was just too much print (it started to feel a bit Elton John) but worn with a block colour underneath I was rather partial to this.
Looking at this picture now I would actually put this jacket with a black dress underneath or even cigerette pants and a black vest. yet again I loved the shape of this. It fitted beautifully around my rather thick waist and wasn't too big on the shoulders but fastened neatly under the bust. There's a whiff of 80's power bitch about this jacket which I love. I just need a heavy spray of Opium perfume and a liberal slick of plum lipgloss and I'm set.

Daisy Dress £75
Maybe its because Prince has been touring the UK or its my inner Sisters of Mercy fan making a reappearance but I'm loving all the purple I'm seeing this season. This dress felt really special on and yet again fit beautifully,. Its a satin type material which I usually avoid like the plague as it tends to emphasise my triple belly but this has some stretch in it so wasn't pulling or creasing.Im totally envisaging this with a faux fur stole and killer heel.Apologies for the mef fringe. Was having a bad hair day.
I only want to see you dancing in the purple |
Bliss Jacket £49
I just loved this jacket and I'm sad because the photo Ive taken doesn't do it justice. I felt like a sexy Cruella De Ville in this. Its like a Dalmatian dream so if like me you are a bit of a sucker for all things animal print its perfect. Go and try this on. I am not doing it justice.I think its my hair and shoes that are ruining it for me. I need a kiler beehive and heels.
No puppies were harmed in the making of this jacket |
This dress is an example of why I am loving taking Shape so much. I just love, love, love this. Oriental styling, flattering cut, contrasting neckline and tie material. Its just fabulous.
I have to have this in my wardrobe and will be treating myself to it come payday.Oh yes you will be mine! Yet again some heels are really required to do this frock justice.
