My first outfit post of 2014 |
Its my first outfit post of 2014 and I'm so pleased that its with this dress.
I modeled this spot prom dress in black by Scarlet and Jo at last years plus north and absolutely loved it. It was also a great hit with the audience many of whom claimed it was their favorite and you can see why.

I've loved this dress since Plus North |
Unfortunately the dress I wore for the catwalk show was a size too big so its great to finally get one that fits like a glove, I've also got it in the navy shade which I love.
Modelling this dress at the Scarlet and Jo Plus North Show |
Scarlet and Jo are fast making a name for themselves as the place to go for beautiful slightly retro inspired frocks and killer body con dresses. The quality is beautiful and every style I've tried by them feels well made in good fabrics.
The art of a good swing dress |
This is one of my preferred dress shapes but as with all things there is an art to a good swing dress.
Too much fabric gathered at the waist can make you look bulky and unless you intend to wear a full underskirt (which I wouldn't in the day) you don't want the circle of the dress to be too wide otherwise it feels like you have meters of fabric bunching around you when you sit down.
Perfect proportions |
The proportions of this dress are perfect. Its gently nipped in at the waist and includes a tie belt so you can pull it in further.
Beautiful neckline and mesh arms |
It features a sweetheart neckline and probably one of the nicest features is the mesh arms and top. There is something really nice about being able to see a ladies arms through the fabric of her dress especially if she has a tattoo. This is also a great feature if the top of your arms are not your fave body part but you are determined not to live in cardigans.
I wore this beautiful dress with pink ballerina pumps, my Speedy Cherry Louis Vuitton tote and a flower in my hair.
I'm still feel a little bit fragile after being so ill over the Christmas period so this outfit is perfect for making me feel girly, pretty and ready to kick off the new year.
Ready to kick off 2014 |
