New Years Eve Baby! Teal Lace Yoke Skater Dress from Yours Clothing Review

Planning what to wear for New Years Eve is one of my favourite parts of the holiday season. Sure I enjoy the sequins and glitter that become a wardrobe staple in the lead up to Christmas but choosing what to wear to bring in the New Year always feels slightly more important.
My outfit is a statement to how I want to feel in the coming twelve months. A resolution if you like but in fashion form.
The delicious Tess Munster

As soon as I saw this Teal Lace yoke skater dress  £36 from Yours Clothing on Tess Munster I knew it had to be mine. I like to think that myself and Ms Munster share similar tastes (retro, girly but with an alternative edge) and the prom dress shape is always a favourite of mine.

My homage to Tess Munster

This dress is just as good in the flesh as it is on the pictures. The lace waistband creates a lovely bit of interest and breaks up the block colour perfectly. I am so in love with the teal shade of this frock, I even matched my eyeshadow to it in a 1980's stylee.

Tealtastic

This frock is all about the details. It looks quite simple but the mesh detailing on the decolletage and the beaded heart shaped neckline look so pretty. It's a showstopper without being gaudy.

Twirling into 2015

There is also definitely something of the little girl party frock about this outfit. The hems of the layered skirt and undernetting are  wired so they stick out, meaning you just can't help to twirl.I have accessorised with some glitter pumps from Primark, my Simply be jewel box clutch and topped it all off with my Crown and Glory Liberace ears.

Happy New Year!

However you plan to spend New Years Eve whether its curling up in your PJs or tripping the light fantastic have a great one. Thankyou so much for continuing to support my blog. Your comments and emails mean so much to me.
See you on the flipside.

I continue to write this blog not just because I love fashion and all it's trappings but because I think its vital that we flood the Internet and magazines with images of Women of all different shapes, ages and sizes.
Women refusing to conform to the perceived ideal of beauty.
We are the ignored, shamed and ridiculed who refuse to go away.
We will not hide in smocks, or be grateful for patronising advice about dressing to "flatter"
We are the proud to be who we are, we don't need society to tell us we are beautiful to feel that way, for we have found strength in the very thing that marks us out as different.
I don't need to be told I have a "pretty face" or that I'm "acceptably fat" fuck that.
A wolf doesn't waste time thinking on the opinion of sheep and I and my fellow plus size clan are wolves.
Majestic, strong and powerful. Here is to another year of fierce fat fashion.

The Curve At Christmas

Before I begin this outfit post let me wish you all a happy holiday. I hope it was everything you have hoped for.Mine was wonderful.
I wore this outfit to celebrate Christmas Eve, I have been awash in sequins and glitter for the past few weeks (with more to come as I head towards new year) so decided to wear something slightly more stylish and fashion forward as a nice contrast.
I always spend Christmas Eve afternoon at my best friend Lilly's house, enjoying food, mulled wine and watching the kids become increasingly hysterical in the countdown to Santa's arrival.
I was approached by new plus size brand The Curve a few weeks ago to see if I would be interested in reviewing  a few items from their collection and as soon as I had a look I loved the designs.
The Curve-Fierce fashion indeed

The Curves collection is small but perfectly formed. It looks quite edgy and luxe and unlike a lot of other plus size brands it doesn't scream "elasticated waistband" or "stretchy fabrics" its an uncompromising bitch of a collection, black leather, fitted dresses with cut out detailing, crop tops and shorty shorts.I adore it.
We plus size fashion bloggers spend a lot of time begging retailers to simply reproduce editorial magazine inspired looks in bigger sizes and that dear readers is exactly what The Curve do.
The Kim Pencil skirt

Today I'm wearing the Kim Pencil Skirt £49 which as the name suggests is a homage to Kimmy K and her internet breaking booty.

How the skirt looks on the website

How it looks on me

Its a fab shape with a faux leather middle section and fabric side panels which I actually prefer over a full leather style skirt. The fact that its a combination of fabrics and finishes makes it look and feel really stylish.

Low key rock chick chic
The sizing on this is spot on. The Curve offer sizes 14-26 at the moment but it looks like this skirt only goes up to a size 22.
A brief reprieve from glitter and sequins
The finish on this skirt is lovely. It has a gold zip at the back and is stretchy yet also heavy weight fabric  so perfect if you carry weight around your middle.

Got ma faux fur on
I've teamed it with a plain black cami top and cardigan and a faux fur stole from Primark. The contrast of leather and fur is so luxurious. One part rock chick to two parts duchess of West Kirby-perfection.

*I never lie to you dear readers I was gifted this skirt-the opinions however are my own*

Wednesday Addams Outfit For The Winter Solstice

It was the winter Solstice a few days ago.The longest night of the year is honoured by many traditions as a sacred and rich time. In the past, it's been a night to gather round the fire or set out candles to call back the Sun.
I had my mum to visit and we had a Winter Solstice feast, lit candles and made merry.

How the dress looks on the S and J website

And here it is on me

This outfit seems perfect to celebrate a tradition with more than a nod to pagan times. Sure I know by channelling Wednesday Addams I am getting my Gothic all mashed up with the pagan but fashion see no colour, and cares not  a jot for authenticity (well that's my excuse)

This black tunic dress with lace collar by Scarlet and Jo £38 seems perfect for winter celebrations. Its chic and understated (even  a little bit pilgrimish if there can be such  a thing) but also has a jaunty 1960's feel with its white lace collar and A line shape.

I love the lace collar with pearl detail
The sizing on this is true so no need to size up or down and the thick jersey fabric means it isn't clingy at all. It feels beautifully made as is always the case with Scarlet and Jo.

Mary Jane's from primark

Never one to avoid flogging a theme to death I have gone totally Christina Ricci in my inspirations.Plaited hair, black tights and even a pair of patent Mary Jane shoes (£4 from primark)

J'Adore Wednesday Addams
I'm serving fat Wednesday Adams realness

I'll stop wearing black when they make  a darker colour

Whether you are celebrating the winter solstice,Christmas, Ḥănukkāh,Pancha Ganapati or simply using the holidays as a time to get together with friends, family or just enjoy some quiet reflection I hope you have a wonderful time.

Pretty Relaxed Outfit: Tulle Skirt from H and M Review

At this time of year there are lots of fashion blogs featuring either party wear or cute snugly jumpers. There isn't very much though about putting together outfits which are pretty enough to signal that an event is taking place (a  dinner party, drinks with friends) but don't feel too overdressed for what is essentially eating M and S party food in your own kitchen.

An outfit that's perfect for home entertaining
This outfit for me is so perfect for at home entertaining. Its fancy but also slouchy. Sparkly but also slightly faded.
Its no surprise this skirt has been  a bloggers favourite

I spied this Tulle skirt £19.99 at H and M a few weeks ago and decided it was perfect for this time of year. Since then it has become an instant classic among my other plus size blogger babes and I have seen it featured at least once a day on my facebook feed. Usually everyone having an item instantly turns me off it but I just haven't seen a bad photo of this skirt. It looks amazing on everyone and I am not going to argue with the numbers.

As you can see its a pale shell pink, with layers of tulle and a ballerina style waistband. It makes me want to swirl around to a Stevie Nicks track, its that good.
I have sprouted antlers-a festive photo bomb-awesome

I've worn it with a sequined sweater from Matalan (last season) and my new silver glitter pimps from primark. Despite looking very floaty and ethereal this is actually a wonderfully comfortable outfit and it survived a very busy Christmas crafts party for my daughter.
Stop eating my skirt Mister Truffles

It may not survive the fact that Mister truffles the pug loves chewing on the hem-naughty pug!
