My Big Fat Holiday Wardrobe

Holiday-celebrate!

Its finally here-I am off on my holidays. I can’t tell you how excited this makes me feel and one of the most enjoyable parts (apart from lounging at the beach) is planning what to take.I just love the build up to a trip away. Buying magazines, stocking up on mini toiletries and downloading tons of books on my kindle.
This year I'm flying with evil Ryan air and have the luggage allowance of a small child so smart packing is the key. I'm a great believer that accessories can make any outfit special so before I pack I always plan each outfit down to the final detail. It means I only take what I need and know I can easily throw together a great outfit with no fuss. Here are my choices for my week away:

Paisley print tunic

I adore this green and blue paisley print tunic by Yours clothing. I'm planning to review it soon and its the perfect outfit to travel in. Doesn't crease, super comfortable but makes me feel very glam in a Liz Taylor in Cannes type stylee.

How fab is this frock!

Matalan Yellow dress
I’ve had this frock for two years now and its been on a few holidays. Its so cool, pretty as a picture and weighs hardly anything at all. I always pack my bright yellow hair flower to compliment it and my fab Bow and crossbones Carmen fruit necklace.

They call me mellow yellow

I have the same dress in coral and am bringing it along too.My white hair flower and Bete Noire Tiki queen necklace turn this simple dress into a fab summer outfit.

Tiki Queen

Asos Curve skull print dress
I spied this a few weeks ago when I was holding my Asos voucher giveaway and had to make a wish list. It seems that sometimes I can make my own dreams come true as I decided to buy it for my holidays and I love it. Its very light, rolls into a tiny ball and feels as light as a feather on.My topshop skull necklace will look great with a slight tan. Perfect.

Hellbunny Dress
This is one of those frocks that has paid for itself about a hundred times over. Its from Sohos, is such a nice shape and looks great when the sun is shining. I'm taking my prettiest pink hair flower and "You're the one for me fatty" necklace. Sweet yes but with attitude.

Sweet yes but with a smidge of attitude

Collectif swimsuit
I fell in love with this Layla two piece as soon as I saw it. Its cherry design is super retro and the high waisted briefs and halterneck top are fantastic. There is no denying  that this has very little support in the boob area but with a design this cute I don’t care.
Cherry baby

Panache Tallulah swimsuit
I was sent this swimsuit by Panache a while ago and to be honest wasn’t mad about the print but it does give great boob support so is very flattering and great for swimming in. Having cast it aside as not glam enough I’m now loving it.

Great boob support

Big Floppy Hat and Sarong
I avoid sunning my face at all costs. Nothing is more ageing than sun damage so I lather on the factor 50 and keep out of the rays under my big floppy hat. Ive also got this lovely sarong by Pepperberry this year which will be great to throw on when I need to get a drink (or take my daughter to the toilet, I'm a mum remember all lounging is interrupted every five minutes)

This looks rather odd, really

Shoes
I'm taking my cute flamingo sandals from Primark to travel in and a pair of flipflops. Thats it. I always take too many pairs of shoes and never wear them so this year I'm being ruthless.
Yes only two pairs-It can be done

Bag
My red tote bag with a skull on is perfect for chucking in a towel, a kindle and sun cream.
Mcqueen homage bag-love this!

So thats this years holiday wardrobe. Hope you have enjoyed having a nosey. What items do you just have to pack when you go away?

Betty Pamper's Big And Beautiful Holiday Pamper Regime

Getting Ready For My Holibobs
I’m sure I can’t be the only one who enjoys the lead up to a holiday almost as much as the break itself. I’m off for a well needed getaway soon so am busy getting myself “beach ready” whatever that means.
Far from being places to be feared public beaches are the great leveller. Sure there will be slinky senoritas with flat tummies and cellulite free thighs but there will also be ladies with varicose veins, men with appendix scars and all manner of wibbly wobbly gorgeousness on parade and hurrah for that. Our bodies are amazing machines that do incredible things and we should be in total awe of them. Not speak unkindly about them.
That said I still want to ensure I feel amazing so I’m preparing to look as fabulous as I possibly can. Confidence is as important as a swimsuit with hidden tummy control doncha know

My Pre Holiday Pamper Plan

Looking ahead to a week on the beach!
I’ve kick started my body beautiful plan by using this great exfoliating body scrub by Simple I want my skin to be as soft as a kitten’s paw and using this every day in the shower is certainly helping.

you scrubber!
I’m complimenting this with lashings of Soap and glory’s "The Righteous Butter" This stuff is amazing. Its sinks into the skin leaving it feeling smooth but not greasy-I love it. Yes my body is fat but its so pampered I’m like a great big spoilt cat.

As much as I’m usually a make up whore I don’t want to wear too much slap in the heat so am tidying up my brows and tinting them so I don’t need to fill them while I’m away. Always ensure your brows look good-they are your face curtains and well tamed brows take years off you!Trust me I'm really one hundred and one.
Lets tame the brows
This recent spate of hot weather has been playing havoc with my skin so I’m making sure its well looked after. I’ve been using the body shops "Honey and Oat mask" since I was fifteen (not this same pot, you understand) and I swear by its skin improving properties. You can use it simply as a scrub or as a mask and it smells good enough to eat. I use it a few times a week leading up to my holidays and find my skin is glowing and needs very little in the way of make up.
Sexy!
This mask is da bomb

If ever there was a time you want to have nicely polished nails and toes its now. You will be lying on a sunbed staring at them for days so clip away your ragged cuticles and give yourself a good manicure and pedicure. As I’m a trained manicurist I always give myself a shellac mani/pedi before I go away. I know it wont chip and the colours look so glossy.

make sure you have perfect paws for your hols

My hair spends most of the holiday wrapped in a turban or under a great big Joan Collins style hat but I like to ensure it’s as soft as can be before I step on the plane. I always give myself a hair mask by John Frieda This stuff is so nourishing its like a fruit and veg packed smoothie straight on your wig.
Seriously good stuff

So that’s my regime. I’m plucked, exfoliated, nourished and smooth. Time to get this big ass onto a plane and enjoy every moment of my break.

What Katie Hopkins Did Next

Oh Katie-do shut up
This summer it seems Katie Hopkins ex of the apprentice and the Daily Mails darling has pushed Samantha Brick off her toxic pedestal and not a day seems to go by without her spouting something "controversial" and setting twitter and facebook pages alight.
A few weeks ago she was defiantly stating how she wouldn't let her children play with children she deemed to have common names (pity her poor kids, I thought I was embarrassing turning up to the school gates in false eyelashes) and this week she is casting her icy blue eyes on the fatties.
In the latest issue of Reveal mag  she claims she would never employ an obese person
"If an obese person came for an interview with me, I would know the moment they walked through the door that they wouldn't get the job. No matter how brilliant, how bright, how good their qualifications or experience, I would not employ them"
Her reasons for this are breath taking in their ignorance
"They just look lazy. I really don't believe that someone carrying 20 stone or similar could move at the speed and pace needed to complete a hectic day of meetings and commitments"

Yes I'm fat, and yet Ive had a successful career-am I in the minority-not on your nelly
As a fat woman who has not only worked in various management positions in blue chip companies and who now runs her own business my initial reaction to this was to shrug it off, nodding my head in bewilderment that someone was paid to write such tosh but the more I thought about it the more serious I realised this casual discrimination was.
You see not so long ago it was considered acceptable to discriminate against people of colour, people with disabilities struggled to get gainful employment and women doing anything other settling down to have babies were viewed as socially destructive.
Through years of education and legislation, equal opportunities and the idea of Britain being a fair and tolerant nation has taken root and our workplaces are so much the better for it. So this casual reintroduction of bias based entirely on a persons outward appearance isn't just cruel and insensitive its dangerous.
Churchill would never make the grade at Katie PLC
To put this into some sort of context Katie would have showed Winston Churchill the door but hired Hitler on the spot. Sure I'm being mischievous but based on her own comments Katie would not give Oprah Winfrey a job. Yep Oprah ranked the richest African-American of the 20th century, the greatest black philanthropist in American history and for a time the worlds only black billionaire just wouldn't make the grade.
Sorry Oprah-You are just too fat and lazy
As a corporate go getter surely her aim when employing staff should be bringing in  people who will be brilliant. Ive worked with amazing business people in my life and they have come in all shapes and sizes. Its a whole new level of daftness to equate body shape and weight with ability and has no place in our workforce.
She of course wheels out the whole "fat people get ill and have health problems" argument. Right so slim and medium build people never get ill? what about smokers, red meat eaters, perhaps you could do background checks to see if cancers run in families-its a silly generalisation with no basis in reality.
As a mother of young children I also wonder how Katie will cope if god forbid one of her kids grows up to be over weight? will she ostracise and marginalise them?
I'm ending this with my recent 5 big fat myths video-please take a look Katie, you might just learn something.
