The Big Fat Partywear Edit

Lets Party!!
Its the run up to Christmas and whether you are a lover of all things festive (guilty as charged) or are feeling slightly "bah humbug" one thing that can not be denied is that its the perfect excuse to buy a slightly over the top frock. Something that at any other time of year (unless you are me whose middle name should be sparkly) might look a little bit too much but in December is perfect.
I thought over the next week or so I would share with you some of my favourites from  a few plus size brands. Starting today with Simply Be whose frocks go  from size 14-32.

Embellished Prom Dress
Some frocks are absolute showstoppers and this is definitely one of them. It has something of the Angelic about it.Wearing this I would feel as if I should be perched at the top of the Christmas tree or wearing wings like Claire Danes in Romeo and Juliet. I don't usually lust after clothes in white (I'm too prone to spillages) but this would be worth the dry cleaning bill.

A dress  for a plump angel

I recently watched the remake of the Great Gatsby and couldn't help fantasising afterwards about what I would wear if I had wangled an invite to an amazing Gatsby house party. I have a feeling it might have been something like this. 1920's styling can be hard to pull off when you are plus size (its all rather favours long slender lines not double D boobs) but in this dress I think I would feel like a real Charleston dancing flapper, swigging champers out of a dinky glass and painting my lips into crimson points.

There is something of the Disney Villainess about this dress. Its a cross between Maleficent and Cruella De Ville but with the styling of Jessica Rabbit. What I'm trying to say is that I love it. This dress screams out for big hair, lots of blingy bracelets and a slash of Limecrimes Poisonberry on the lips. Purple is such a great winter colour and gives you permission (should you feel you need it) to wear really vampy make up. Hurrah!

I don't usually wear anything floor length as I'm so short (it always makes me feel like Yoda in his robes) but the colour and detail on this dress might just make me reconsider. This is so Liz Taylor in Cannes I can hardly bear it.
Unlike  a lot of maxi dresses this looks like it would still nip you in at the waist and not flatten the boobs too much and the embellishment at the shoulders and waist is just gorgeous. I'm not  a great believer in trying to get lots of wear out of party frocks (the rest of my wardrobe is expected to be hard working but not dresses to party in) but I reckon this would also work brilliantly for nights out on holiday with a tan.

If all this froth and finery leaves you cold and you don't want to look like something that should be dangling off the Christmas tree (what's wrong with you?) this dress might be perfect. The beautiful brocade fabric is ornate but the length of the dress and the collar give it a slightly less fussy edge. This would be great with thick tights and brogues and is ideal for a Christmas works lunch or nights out where you will be doing pub crawls and wearing a floor length ball gown might not quite work (yet again what's wrong with you?)

I couldn't do a partywear edit without including this dress. I wore this to the Plus size awards and felt absolutely stunning. I wish I was on commission for this dress as I have raved about it so much to so many people. Its a show stopper. Buy it-you wont regret it.
