SugarSkull Halloween Nails

Happy Halloween From Lilly and Betty

Its nearly Halloween and even if you don't fancy going full tilt with a costume (whats wrong with you) you can always incorporate a little spooky styling into your manicure.
Here Lilly Von Pink the mistress of manicures shows you how.
You will need:
Base and topcoat polish
A base colour nail polish (I’ve used OPI in Alpine snow) choose something bright
An accent nail polish (I’ve used collection 2000 hoola hoop pink)
Black nail polish and a small paint brush (I’ve used a nail art polish which has a paint brush in)
To decorate I’ve used fimo flower canes and crystals but you can use sequins and hand paint them as  flowers, the choice is yours.
Nail glue
Tooth picks

Step 1: Start with clean manicured nails. Apply base coat and two coats of your base colour.

Add your base colour
Step 2: Use your black to create the skulls jaw and teeth as shown below

Paint on the teeth
Step 3: I used fimo flower canes which I cut slices off then stuck crystals in the middle of the flowers which will be my sugar skulls eyes. Once the glues dried place a blob of glue on the nail where you want your eyes to sit and allow to dry.
Fimo canes make the flowers
Step 4: next using you black polish again draw an upside down heart in the position you want the skulls nose
An upside down heart makes the nose

Step 5: using your accent polish (I used pink) and a tooth pick as a dotting tool add your decoration I just went dot mad.

Get dotting!

Step 6: once dry apply a sealing coat of top coat and your sugar skull is done
Seal the deal
So you can carry on and have 10 different sugar skulls or like me i used it as an accent nail
A sugarskull for my ring finger
Have fun and happy Halloween

Plus London I'm Coming To Get You!

Make up brushes at the ready

Its been a while in the planning but I'm so excited that I can now share that the news that me and Lilly will be bringing our Vintage Pamperbox experience to Plus London courtesy of Curvissa.
On Saturday the 2nd of November we will be sprinkling make up and hair magic on lots of lovely plus size hotties keen for a sit down and a beauty session inbetween catching all the amazing stuff going on, at what can only be described as London's foremost plus size event.
Our booking came about after I got chatting to the Curvissa team when I was invited to watch the filming of their TV advert (which I blogged about here) They thought it would be lovely for us to offer some glamorous 1950's inspired hair and make up styling for the ladies of Plus London and as someone who adores transforming ladies into smouldering sirens I couldn't agree more.
Myself and Lilly will be offering pampering slots all day at what looks to be a rather awesome event. To book a slot you need to e-mail the plus London team with the subject "Pamper me" and say whether you want hair or make up styling. There is obviously only a limited amount of slots and its totally free to ticket holders so good luck!
Curvissa's Leaf Print tea Dress
The Curvissa Team really kindly also let me choose a frock to wear on the day. As they have decided to go with a 1950' vibe I picked this gorgeous Leaf Print Tea Dress
Fab 1950's vibe
I have had my eye on this dress for a while. Its such a lovely design and with its nipped in waist and sweetheart neckline its perfect for my shape.
I love the slightly fitted shape of this dress

The design of the print is so pretty and perfect for this time of year when my wardrobe takes a sightly darker turn in regard to what colour's I want to wear.
Fabulous Leaf print
It was initially priced at £75 but is now reduced in their sale to £42 which is a bit more affordable. With its fab print this is perfect as a party dress but can also work as day wear with a cardigan and ballet pumps.
Works as a sweet day dress or  a cute party frock

I've teamed it with a dark pink shrug by Simply be which picks out the pink in the flowers along the hem and my "Lipgloss Goddess" necklace which Lilly made me.
Happy to be your Lipgloss Goddess at Plus London

This pretty shrug works perfectly

If any of you are coming to Plus London please pop over to the Curvissa stand to say hello (and have a little look at their A/W collection which I saw at Plus North and is cracking)
See you on Saturday!

Until Saturday!

A Cross To Wear from Simply Be

Mixing it up with a slightly tougher look

My go to style tends to be on the girly side. I love fifties inspired frocks, Jessica Rabbit wiggle dresses and adore pink so much I've even dyed the front of my hair candyfloss.
I do like to mix my style up a bit though and try out edgier looks especially in autumn/winter when the need for big boots and trousers is a bit of a necessity.

This outfit is casual enough for the day but feels quite glam

This outfit by Simply be is practical enough that its great for chucking on to dash around in but with the gold cross design and shiny leggings feels quite glam too.

The dipped hem jersey tunic top is a total departure for me, I usually avoid anything with the word "tunic" in like the plague but the dipped hem (which is very long, I kept forgetting I had it and wondering what was tickling the back of my legs) and really fab gold cross design lifts it up from the realms of the classic fat chick cover up into something much cooler indeed.
The dipped hem and gold cross design lift this tunic style top into something quite cool
I will chuck on a jacket-I realise its October

It being October I will throw on a long cardigan or jacket with this before I go out but I wanted to show you the shape and my big arms-love me, love my bingo wings.
These leggings are shiny on the front, matte on the back

You're the one that I want-ooh, ooh, ooh

The Grazia Matt Wet look leggings I've worn it with are just brilliant  My husband calls them my "Olivia Newton John pants" and they are not dissimilar to the trousers worn by sandy when she asks Danny to "tell me about it stud" and I love them.
Red Glitter and Rock n roll

The perfect necklace for this outfit

They are jeggings so soft as leggings but with the durability of a jean-fast becoming my favorite kind of leg wear.
Jeggings-fast becoming my fave trousers

Love me, love my arm fat

I've teamed them with  ankle boots and my Balenciaga motorcycle bag from back in the day when I used to buy designer arm candy.
With the rather flash top design I've kept accessories to a minimum  A rock n roll necklace by Rachels Wonders and a pink cuff by Belindas prettys.
Its edgy, pretty, feminine but tough-like all the best Women!
