Scarlett And Jo: Betty Pamper's Catwalk Debut

getting my Scarlett and Jo on
When the plus north team asked whether I would like to model for their Scarlett and Jo catwalk show at the events aftershow party I didn't hesitate to say yes. I've been photographed quite a few times as a plus size model so didn't imagine it would be much different. As it got closer though I started to feel nervous. Really nervous.
Hoping to glide rather than stumble up the catwalk

I am renowned for bring incredibly clumsy. At vintage pamperbox events I regularly fall over absolutely nothing and I had visions of me doing a Naomi Campbell special and going A over T on the runway.
I was also quite unfamiliar with the Scarlet and Jo brand so wasn't sure what the sizing would be like. Would I look like a sausage in a skin or perhaps worse be in some billowing tent like thing.
On the day of the event I made my way over to the Scarlett and Jo stand at Plus North and within  five minutes of talking to S and J  designer Angela she had put my mind totally at ease. This is a woman who clearly loves to dress curvy bodies, her passion for making beautiful clothes that suit every figure shines through when you speak to her, and the clothes- oh my word.
When I was shown the two dresses I would be modelling I was beside myself. My favorite is this amazing red and black number. If you get a chance to try this on in an Evans store I strongly suggest you do as it is so flattering (I can't find it on their website yet)
My first look at the red frock I would be modelling
Gently gathered at the tummy, nipped in at the waist, generously cut sleeves and the colour- just beautiful.
The second frock I was modelling  is totally me, Angela even joked she might rename it the "Betty" as it looked to be designed for me. Yet again I felt magnificent in it.

Backstage I caught up with the beautiful group of plus size bloggers who were my fellow models and we all received the full hair and make up treatment.
The theme of the show was old Hollywood glamour so perfect for me and everyone looked absolutely glorious.

The evening event was kicked off by the adorable singer Rosie O'Sullivan from Britain's got talent. Wearing a dress especially designed by Scarlett and Jo she sounded so lovely and looked amazing.

There was no time for a run through so after a few glasses of champagne and a pep talk from the lovely Scarlett and Jo team we were off.
Bloggers Rachel and Kathryn opened the show

How foxy does Kathryn look
I was second on and very, very nervous. My face was actually shaking but thankfully no one noticed and after a few seconds I started to really enjoy myself. It helped enormously that the Plus North crowd were so encouraging, cheering, whistling and making us all feel really appreciated.
Deep breath and I'm off
Striking a pose
The other girls looked so fantastic and glided up the catwalk as if they did it every day.
Purple and black-a classic combination

As soon as I was off the catwalk I had to dash to get into my second frock. The lovely Natalie from Scarlett and Jo helped me pull a new dress over my beehive and zipped me up. I was so freaked out that despite the dash back being a two minute journey I got confused as to which door I needed to go through. Natalie got me back to the girls and back on the catwalk,

On the catwalk, on the catwalk-I shake my fat tush on the catwalk
At the end we all came back on together with designer  Angela and gave her a well deserved round of applause for such a fab collection.

Thanks to both Plus North and Scarlett and Jo for giving me such an amazing opportunity. I loved every minute.
