Come again? Nars Orgasm Blusher Review

Nars Blush in shade "orgasm" a beauty icon

In the world of make up there are a few products, which have become undisputed classics.
Touché éclat for sweeping away dark circles, Benefit high beam for perfect highlights and Macs Russian Red to name a few.
Over the years I’ve used (and often reviewed) a lot of products which have created a buzz on beauty blogs but for reasons I cant quite explain I had never tried Nars blusher in shade "orgasm"
Peachy pink with a golden shimmer
Universally loved by make up artists and bloggers alike and considered to be a shade which suits every skin tone it just sort of passed me by whilst I dabbed posy tint or bourjois onto my cheeks.
On nothing more than a whim I decided to treat myself to it recently as I wanted a shade to wear during the summer and as much as I love my recent Illamasqua blusher in shade Excite it is a very bright coral colour which doesn't suit every lipstick shade.

Here I am applying it over my usual foundation having already contoured my cheekbones with some matte bronzer.

The colour of Orgasm is described as “Peachy pink with golden shimmer “ and that’s pretty spot on.
Loving the slight golden shimmer
I don’t know what I was expecting (so often these much lauded products are a huge disappointment) but I am absolutely hooked.
It combines a soft pink colour with a beautiful iridescent finish. As the name suggests there is more than a hint of post coital flush to the shade and it leaves you looking radiant.
I love how radiant this makes me look

The texture of the product is light and whilst its fairly pigmented it is buildable so depending on how "orgasmic" you want to look you can apply with a lighter or heavier hand.
The blush is totally buildable so you can just add a hint of a flush or go for the full When Harry met sally look

The packaging is classic Nars with a moulded black case which includes a mirror and it looks expensive (which at £21 it is to be fair) but the most impressive thing is the tiny flecks of gold running through the colour. Acting as the perfect highlighter and wonderful with a hint of a tan.
Lovely when you have a slight tan
I love it, it’s currently my favourite blush and I’m wearing it every day. Yes I’m orgasming all over the place and heartily recommend that you follow my lead.

  1. Dear Betty,
Could you as some point do a blog post on blushers in general, please? Things like what to look out for, how to find one that'd be right for you, what types are there and their pros&cons, what colours work for what skin tones/looks (especially vintage) etc. I have been meaning to get a blusher for a while now (I never had one since I am naturally quite blushed and I've had a years long phase of doing "pale" or no-blusher make up), but there's so much choice it's confusing, while the info I've found elsewhere online tends to be a bit vague. I'd really appreciate it if you did a post like that.
Take care and stay fabulous! xxx

  2. Oh lovely, you look glowing maybe it was the holiday too lol, or did you bring back more than a tan ;)
Actually I find blusher one of the most confusing things to choose. I know I like cream as opposed to powder, but choosing the right colour for my complexion is a bit of a mystery lol.
