Marlene On The Wall

Kellie-A modern day Marlene
A few weeks ago the gorgeous Kellie booked Nicky Rockets and Team Pamperbox for a photoshoot incorporating two very exciting looks. She wanted mysterious Marlene Deitrich glamour for her first session and classic 50's glamour for her second.
The shoot was just an absolute pleasure to work on. I had researched the looks I wanted to create and am so pleased with how the session turned out.
Obviously I was aware that although the whole session was being photographed in colour that many of the images especially from the Marlene inspired shoot would be turned into black and white afterwards so I had to ensure my make up worked for both colour and desaturated shots.
I loved this shot of Marlene especially the dark rimmed eyes and used this for reference on the day.

Marlene-No one male or female has ever worn a suit better

And the mouth shape on this picture. Rounded but with a sharp cupids bow.

How impossibly beautiful is her mouth?

My much loved Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay was used to create the dark eyes of the Marlene look. I blended shades pistol, verve, busted and blackout to create a a smokey mysterious look. This look is all about the eyes so I applied a set of false eyelashes but I didn't want them to be too fluttery so used Ardells 109S I pencilled Kellie eyebrows into an arch and paid lots of attention to making her cheekbones as high as possible.

Lilly Von Pink was on hair styling duty and roller set Kellie's hair brushing it into sleek waves around her face.

For our second session which was a 1950's pin up I looked to Rita Hayworth for colours and the overall approach. As Kellie is a beautiful redhead I wanted to give her the almost golden look that you see on so many pictures of this iconic film star.

The glorious Rita Haywood
This time I used the neutrals from the Sleek Au natural palette on Kellie's eyes. slicked Barry M's Wink marker along the top lash line and used Besemes Red hot red on the lips

Lilly victory rolled Kellie's hair which with her glossy red fringe looked adorable.

I used Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in shade Porcelain and Macs Prep and prime translucent powder to set for both looks and MUA shade1 bronzer and Boujois Rose Frisson on the cheeks

I was so pleased with the final images. I'm sure you will agree Kellie looks absolutely beautiful and Nicky Rockets did such an amazing job on the photos.
As a make up artist doing your research and having a clear idea of what you want to achieve is so important before you even step foot into the studio environment and as you can see pays huge dividends.
