Madmen Inspired Sixties Lace: OOTD

Ready for Madmen in my sixties inspired shift dress
As much as I love 1950's inspired styling its always nice to give a nod to another era and as I'm bursting with excitement at the news that Mad men is to return to our screens very soon (April the 10th on Sky Atlantic) I thought I would go for a bit of a sixties theme with today's outfit.
As soon as I saw this crochet trim tunic dress by Simply Be I had to have it. It also comes in Jade green and I may well get it in that colour too as I'm seriously loving it.
Allowing my tats to peak out

The first thing that drew me to this rather delightful frock was the see through sleeves. I love an opportunity to show off my brightly colour tattoos but actually hate sleeveless clothes so they spend much of their time sulking under layers, with this design they can come to the party.
I also really like the crochet detail on the hem and sleeves and the wide shape of the sleeves which feels very retro indeed.
Loving these sleeves
It is a tunic shape which can be quite unforgiving so I am wearing magic knickers for a slightly smoother silhouette.
I actually don't own many dresses that are this length as in general I don't like not being able to bend or reach without risking showing off my bum and that's my only small niggle with this dress especially as these pictures were taken just as I was about to do a double shift of make up bookings, I fear I may have flashed a few times. When I wear it next I will definitely go for  a thicker tight.

Bit of a "flasher" length but I don't care

Speaking of which I must tell you about these new tights I am seriously loving (yes a pair of tights has made me excited-who knew)They are by Yours Clothing and are called Xceptionelle 20 denier 3D tights these are not just any old pair of tights, they are apparently "an engineered garment providing enhanced stretch for outstanding comfort and performance" I don't really understand how this works but when I saw they  prevented digging in at the inner thighs and waist I was quite intrigued.
Xceptionelle tights-they live up to the name
Me and tights don't have a great relationship, too often they roll down, ladder or to get them to fit my rather fat legs are then too long so I end up looking like Nora batty. Not these tights though, oh no,these tights are frigging amazing.

No Nora batty wrinkles for a change

They stay up, were incredibly comfortable and best of all not a snag in sight. Ive worn and washed them a fair few times now and they still look perfect.Well worth the rather eye watering £10 price tag.

OK Don I'm ready for you
My hair for this look is a beehive which I created by pinning round a fake ponytail. I'm applied lots of black eyeliner and a bright pink lipstick by Barry M. Now all I need is Don Draper on my arm and I'm set. Will you be tuning into Mad men?
