How To Apply False Eyelashes

Lets get lashed

This post and vlog is by popular demand. So many of you have told me how you struggle to apply false lashes and how once they are applied they are terribly uncomfortable. This ladies, is a crime. Nothing makes you look more glam than a set of full on false lashes and once you know a few tricks it couldn't be easier to use them.

First of all here are my five Lash commandments

Rule #1-Beware poor quality lashes. This doesn't automatically mean you have to spend a fortune on them but some super cheap sets are just horrible quality with rigid lash lines which wont adhere properly to your lid. My blog post here has some great suggestions for good quality falsies which wont break the bank.

Rule # 2 Never use the glue that comes with the lashes. Even quite high end lashes tend to have dreadful glue. Nothing will hamper your efforts to apply false eyelashes more than using rubbish glue. I recommend Duo its amazing, dries clear and stops the ends of lashes "pinging" off.

Rule #3 Break the spine of your lashes. This sounds scary but all I mean is gently bend your lashes around your finger or the end of a make up brush. this will make the lash more pliable and fit your lid more comfortably.

Rule#4 Cut your lashes down to size. Lashes come in one length but everyones eyes are different sizes. Hold the lash to your lash line and ensure they are a good fit. if they are over long they will either look droopy or poke you in the inner eye. Always cut from the outward (thickest) end of the lash.

Rule #5 Don't use too much glue. So many eye lash tutorials show the lash line covered in glue. You don't need this much. A thin line against the lash line with an extra blob at either end to anchor them on is more than enough. If you find you are having to colour in your eyeliner after applying your lashes to cover the glue you are using too much. it looks matted and is a massive false lash fail.

How to apply the lashes.
Once the glue is on your lash leave it to go tacky for a few seconds.
Then gently place the lash on your lash line.

Close your eye and then gently push each end of the false lash down.

Once in place press the ends of the false lashes so they are further pressed into the lash line.
