Halloween is coming and if you like your spookiness to have a vague Freda Kahlo flavour this is the craft project for you. This is a great project to do with the kids as it doesn't require a huge amount of skill and the end results are very satisfying.
You will need:
- Plastic skulls (I got mine from a poundshop)
- Plasticoat spraypaint
- Enamel paint
- Small paint brushes
- Metallic fibre pens
Spray your skulls with the plasticoat. Do this outside or in a well ventilated room. Wear a dust mask. Leave to dry for a few hours.
A plain plastic skull
Spray with outdoor paint
Use white enamel paint to paint in the teeth
Oh Grandma what big teeth you have
Paint in the nasal aperture and eye sockets with black paint.
I nose what is going on
Paint in the eye sockets
use your metallic pen to draw dots around the eye sockets
Dot the eyes
use paint or another colour pen to decorate the skull with designs on the brow bone and chin. Also add a circle at the top of the skull.
Add a flower on the top of the skull using different shades of enamel paint
Display your Halloween Sugar skulls and enjoy your spooky handiwork.
