Going Hell For Leather: Simply Be Leather effect Skater Skirt Review

A leather skirt on a short fat chick. Can it work? Hell to the yeah!
Call it my inner goth or biker chick but when I saw that Simply Be had a leather effect skater skirt in there latest collection I had to have it.

With the right styling I think I pull it off
I think when teamed with the right accessories and complimentary fabrics leather (or pleather as is the case here) can look totally luxe and its quite rare to find anything in leather for the plus sized princess (apart from corsets and well that's a different sort of outfit altogether)
Now these outfit posts are not just an excuse for me to prance around the garden (although doing just that brings me immense joy) they are to show you how I put things together in a way which I think makes the most of my curvalicous assets.
The shape of this skirt is a challange but I love a challenge and now I love this skirt too
Stroke my (P)leather

I wont lie, this skirt is not an easy shape to wear if like me you are apple shaped. It is gathered at the waist so makes you look widest at what is already your widest part if you have a lot of junk in your trunk. When I first tried it on I wasn't sure I could pull it off. However once I played around with the proportions a little, adding a thick belt and a stripy sweater which covered the waist band I actually fell in love with it and thank its a perfect autumn outfit.

Brothel Creepers-My go to Autumn shoes

Ive teamed it with some leggings and my trusty creeper shoes (always a staple at this time of year and currently having a fashion "moment" so you can pick them up for next to nothing)
Black leggings-not very edgy but on a day like today very warm
I'm also wearing some gorgeous jewelry which is from one of my favourite on line boutiques Bete Noire. This "Glamorous" set hits just the right note with my monochrome and leopard print ensemble and softens what could otherwise be quite tough girl styling. Im  a great beleiver in speling out how Im feeling and today Im feeling glam in my own slightly unconventional way.
Loving my "Glamour" necklace and bracelet set

Ive quiffed the front of my hair and put in an over sized leopard print headscarf to match the leopard print detail on my shoes.I know wearing large bows can be treading dangerously close to Widow Twanky territory but this girl just can't help it. The bigger the bow, the happier Miss Betty is.
An over sized hair bow-too much? never

My eye make up is smokier than my usual day wear to compliment my skirt. I'm wearing eyeshadow from the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette in shades  foxy, busted and blackout. My lipstick is Barry M's lip paint in shade shocking pink  and Ive also  matched my nail varnish which is by Milani in Pink hottie. I brought it in the states but you can get on ebay in the UK.
Can there be a better colour combination that hot pink and jet black? today I don't think so.
Black and hot pink-one of my fave colour combinations

Remember feeling good and looking great has nothing to do with dress size and everything to do with attitude.Never wait to be a certain weight to start enjoying clothes and never reject anything thinking it wont suit your shape. Try it on-you may be surprised.

Join My "This Outfit Make Me Feel Fabulous "Project
If you enjoyed seeing my outfit I would love you to join my new project celebrating the amazing style of normal women.
Last week I asked people on my facebook page to attach pictures on my timeline of outfits which make them feel awesome and the response has been wonderful. I'm already blown away at how stylish they all look and would love to roll the idea out so it becomes a regular blog feature. Here is a vlog I filmed about this idea.

I can't do this alone so if you would like to be involved you can either attach a picture to my facebook time line or email me me a photo. Include a few lines about why you love the outfit and where it was from.
