Ive recently been using a couple of lovely products by the Bodyshop and thought I would do a quick review/share. First off Ive been trying their new Body Mists which come in a rather lovely glass bottle and look far more expensive than they actually are.
Loving the glass bottles
Moringa-sounds like a character from King Arthur but smells well lush
Ive got Moringa which is a white floral fragrance and as the name suggests contains moringa extract and the Satsuma one which smells, well kind of like satsumas! These are £7 for 100ml so quite a big bottle.
Smells like oranges-what a surprise
I think these body mists are fab for this slightly bonkers muggy sweaty summer. They are really cooling and actually quite light so you can use them throughout the day to cool down and fragrance yourself. Ive also been using them as room sprays which I realise isn't what they are designed for but they just smell so delicious. I keep the Satsuma one on my desk and find a little spritz when I hit my afternoon slump helps perk me up.
Spritzing the BB Towers hot desk-re energising me for all the twitter and facebook er I mean work I need to do
The second product Ive been using is the beautifying oil. Ive got a mango one and a coconut one, these are £9 for 100ml and have worked wonders on helping make my skin all soft after its yearly bake on holiday-even my rhino like elbows have benefited.
Mango Oil working wonders on my Rhino elbows
I usually find oils too greasy and they can sometimes make me break out but these are the new fangled "dry oils" which soak in really quickly and leave very little residue and just really yummy soft skin.
Yes I really am posing whilst holding bottles of body spray. Why? because Im a bit "special"
Ive been using this after every shower and even on my face and absolutely love them. A small amount goes a really long way so I think this will last for ages. As you would expect with the Bodyshop the fragrances are delicious, really fruity and of course cruelty free so yet again top of the class for Bodyshop. I love you and my skin loves you too! Recently I was chatting to a lovely girl who casually mentioned that she has never particularly excelled at anything and cheerfully stated she had "no particular talent" Not knowing her well enough to comment I let this pass without contradiction but it troubled me and later on when I thought about it I realised why-It simply wasn't true, because everybody has talents. We are all so driven nowadays to excel visibly, be the prettiest, the cleverest, the richest. The problem is for a large percentage of people who perhaps don't speak five languages, have a law degree and the ability to bake the perfect croquembouches its easy to decide you have no real talents to shout about, but its important to remember that life isn't all about having the best bragging rights at a dinner party. Some talents are less easily defined but so precious they are priceless.
My supermarket outfit choices also bring joy to strangers-or it could be mirth, regardless its a talent
The ability to make others feel comfortable whatever the situation, the sensitivity to know when to check in with a friend going through a bad time, the capacity to lighten the mood and bring out laughter even when things are bleak, all of these are talents. We've all met these people, if you are really lucky you may have one or two in your life. They give off a glow like the kid in the old Ready Brek adverts. They radiate well being and while you are in their company you feel happier. They may be your port of call when the shit hits the fan or just be the man who sells you your paper who always makes you feel like you have made his day simply by walking into his shop. These people live life well and that's one hell of a talent. So if you are someone who wonders what your special skill is maybe its as simple as having the knack to make any space (even a work cubicle) feel like home, it could be your compassion for animals or your flair for putting together great outfits on a budget. These very real attributes are important and in the long run may touch more peoples lives than a qualification ever could (I like to think my outfit choices cheer up the great and the good of West Kirby)
My biggest talent-the ability to give great big cuddles
So sure strive to be the best you can be and if this includes training, education and letters after your name be proud, but if this isn't your path never feel you have no talent or special skills, you have stacks. My special skill? I would like to think its my enthusiasm for new experiences, my daughter says its "giving cuddles" I'm happy with that.

Whats been rocking my world this August! A little video showing you what products and thingamabobs I'm aliking this month. Now before you watch I must point out that I used a new MUA kohl under my eyes and as I filmed it slid down my face making me look like a panda. Ever the consummate professional rather than refilm Ive decided to leave it in for the comedy value. That's one product which wont be making a favourites list-grrr.
having trouble viewing this embeded video-watch on Youtube And for those of you who can't view videos here is the analogue version x Bella Bunny pendent-Accessorize £5
Bright eyes burning like fire
This teeny tiny Bunny necklace is super cute and lovely for when I want to keep my jewellery low key (I understand that a gold rabbit may not be your idea of low key but this is me we are talking about) I always want to sing "Bright eyes" when I'm wearing it.
Black Silicon Rhinestone Skull Watch Torrid $19.50
A jewel encrusted skull watch-ooh yes please
I was quite excited to visit the Torrid store when I was in America recently. Any shop catering for plus sizes is always a cause for celebration in my world. I have to say I found the clothes a little disappointing, I'm not sure if something got lost in the US/UK translation but it all looked a little bit flammable and tent like. The underwear was fabulous though (and if I'd had more time I would have definitely tried some on) as were the accessories.
Tick tock
I picked up this watch as I love anything with skulls on and I like that it has a rubber strap. I'm never very lucky with watches. they seem to break, stop or make me get a rash so fingers crossed my diamante skull head will break the cycle. I couldn't find this from a UK supplier but Torrid do ship internationally. Revlon Fire And Ice Lipstick £22.99
An oldie but a goldie
You know sometimes you buy something and don't rate it straight away and then try it again and love it? well that's what happened with this lipstick. I brought it last year when Revlon released a limited edition version of this 55 year old shade and whilst I loved the orangey red shade I wasn't impressed with the staying power. Having returned from my holiday my lips are quite dry and the creamy finish of this lipstick is fabulous.Ive fallen in love with it and have worn it every day since I got home. It looks great with my slight tan and yes I do need to reapply it quite a lot but it looks so vintage and chic I don't really mind.
I take it all back Revlon-I love this lipstick
I'm not sure if you can get it in this case apart from on eBay but the normal lipstick is available on Amazon.
Over the last few years I have struggled to find a powder which has suited my skin. I am too shiny to forgo it completely but I have found powders that previously worked beautifully looking chalky. I'm always a bit scared of stepping into Bette Davies "whatever happened to baby Jane" territory and Ive tried loads with little success. I had all but given up but having a few hours to kill at the airport recently I mooched around the mac shop and the lovely shop assistant suggested Careblend. I absolutely love it,as well as setting my make up it is surprisingly soft and moisturising and not chalky in the least. Hurrah for Mac. I know everyone goes on about Mac a lot and I for one have never been that impressed with the lipsticks which are incredibly drying but this is amazing.
I know this isn't the most exciting product but Ive really struggled to find a deodorant that doesn't leave a powdery residue on my clothes. This one by Nivea not only smells lovely and stops me being a sweaty Betty but doesn't leave my clothes looking like an armpit snowstorm has taken place. Bravo.Sometimes its the little things.
Bambi
My final favourite thing this month is my brand new kitten Bambi. He is a rescue kitten and we are all completely under his spell. At eight weeks old he is so tiny he fits into the palm of my hand. he was a bit skinny and flea ridden when he arrived but in just over a week he is now sporting a flea free shiny coat and is eating for Britain.

Regular readers of my blog will know I love jewellery especially anything sparkly.I'm a proper magpie. So when Cutey sent me two of their Shamballa bracelets to review I admit I did do a little dance. I already had a bit of a yearning for one of these beautiful Buddhist inspired bracelets.(they have been around for a while and adorned the wrist of lots of celebrities) but the ones I had seen were quite expensive, however these by Cutey are only £18.99.That's a whole lot of pretty for under twenty quid!
The Thinker-planning what to have for my dinner probably
They arrived just before I attended the wedding of a friend of mine which was held at the fabulous Chillington Hall. Chillington Hall is a real gem of a country house, with grounds designed by Capability Brown and room upon room stuffed to the rafters with beautiful antiques, chandeliers and even a real leopard skin rug!
Whilst obviously feeling very sad for the poor old leopard I couldn't resist some pics with it (its not every day you get the chance to drape yourself with the skin of a big cat)
Baba Bee, Mama Bee and the poor leopard-Grr
There is something about being in such grand surroundings which inspired both me and my daughter to become rather camp and as you can see by these pictures we indulged in some serious voguing.
Baba Bee as Lady of the Manor
I did feel a little bit like I had been caught with my hand in the biscuit tin when one of the staff walked in to find me draped on a chaise wearing the rug as a dress but they have obviously seen it all before and didn't miss a beat.
Grrrrr
Just hanging out with my new friend
Chomp!
Anyway back to the bracelet review,Baba Bee also fell in love with the Shamballa bracelets so we both wore them for the big day. At one point she rather craftily took mine off my wrist while I was talking to someone and wore both of them-the magpie doesn't fly far from the tree.
Baba Bee playing Angry Birds with both the bracelets on.
To be honest mine hasn't left my wrist since. Its so sparkly and lovely and looks quite substantial and yes super twinkly.I didn't expect to love it as much as I do.I'm thinking of buying a few more to create a wrist full of them. I will be rattling like a cutlery drawer!

Practical, Comfortable with a hint of Rockabilly chic
Some days when you know you are going to be doing a lot of cleaning, gardening or generally anything that demands a certain amount of practicality your wardrobe has to reflect that. I refuse to wear a tracksuit for anything other than going to the gym so my go to outfit for practical wear is a cross between Rosie the Riveter and a lumberjack.
Hair tied up-with a victory roll in my fringe.
Checked shirts have long been a rockabilly staple and this one which is by Primark is great as its almost like a short dress and has pockets. Ive teamed it with rolled up jeans and tied a red bandanna on my hair to keep it out of the way
Loving my new moustache necklace
I often team this look with ballet pumps but today Ive gone for polka dot wedges. I'm wearing one of my favourite necklaces of the moment which is by Accessorize
I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK!
I may be planning a bank holiday of decorating and sorting but I'm still wearing make up. My eyeshadow is from the MUA undressed palette, my blush is from the Baked blush range in Royal Rose from beauty UK with High beam by benefit on the cheekbones. My lipstick is Beseme Red by Beseme.Ive slicked some 2true eyeliner on and my mascara is Volume Express cat eye by Mabelline
Remember feeling good and looking great has nothing to do with dress size and everything to do with attitude.Never wait to be a certain weight to start enjoying clothes and never reject anything thinking it wont suit your shape. Try it on-you may be surprised.

Whilst I was on holiday in the US recently I indulged one of my favourite pastimes when abroad which is checking out the large drug stores to see what make up and nail varnish they have. I picked up a really cute nail polish which I just couldn't resist.
its an Nicole by OPI one which is part of a Khardashian range. Its called Love in your life and is a pink confection of hearts and glitter. I love OPI nail varnish, I love hearts and glitter so it was a no brainer. Now I'm not as much as a nail whizz as Lily Von Pink but I am OK at applying nail varnish and doing a little bit of nail art and the thought of having hearts on my nails made me quite giddy.
I tried this polish out on its own and the impact of the sparkle wasn't as strong as I wanted and applying the hearts with the brush meant on some nails I had loads and on others I only had a few. After a few goes I settled on using a cocktail stick to fish the hearts out with to ensure I could have an even amount of hearts on each nail (this sounds much fiddlier than it actually is) I decided to try it over another colour to try and make the glitter heart effect really stand out and this is how it turned out.
My sparkle kit is ready
Step One I started with clean fairly short nails (my holiday shellac has left them a little week so Ive given them the chop) I applied some base coat.
Prepare to be be glittery
Step Two
I then painted my nails a bright pink using one of the neon colours by Milani. (I think you can only get this in the states but Rimmel do a similar one)
Pink to make the boys wink
Step Three
I applied two coats of the glitter so they would look super sparkly.
All that glitters..
Step Four
Using a cocktail stick I placed one heart on each nail. It has enough nail varnish on it to stick so I just pressed the sides down so they don't snag once dry.
Poking a heart with a cocktail stick-there is a song in there somewhere
Step Five
Am loving my sparkly heart nails. I'm going to try this look over black nail varnish as think that would look quite lovely too. You can buy this nail varnish in the UK from Beautybay for £9 and Ive also seen it on ebay.
The winner will be chosen by random number generator on Sunday August the 26th 2012.
